Not only is Anneke such a very, very underrated musician and vocalist, but The Gathering band as a whole, during, pre and post Anneke, is such a very, very underrated band in its entire history and even very underrated when compared to all of the great bands that came out in the 1990s. This band influenced and inspired so many great bands and musicians.

The Gathering still remains as the most deep, rich, developed band to date. They are way ahead of their time. Anneke will be missed greatly, no question about it but with or without Anneke, The Gathering is still the best. I am glad they found Silje, she has such a beautiful voice! She deserves all of our support. :) Respect from Canada.

I've only recently discovered The Gathering [2019] - "Somewhere" duet with Sharon Den Adel [WT] and I was 'who was this other incredible singer?!' So I looked her up and nek minut The Gathering was my go to band. But only the Anneke years. Nothing before and nothing after. Each has their choice and that's mine. The Gathering is ok but Anneke's voice stays with me.

Fading, falling Slow winds breaking soundscapes And waves of velvet sweeping Into me You moved all that was in my world And showed me all the new colours In my universe where storms run Falling, falling, falling, fall into me I hear echoes of my speech And I see shadows of my walk I feel the past I always look backwards Fighting, floating Tasting blood in my mouth Ancient damp painting ruins Feel the rising chill I listened to the sound of your airs We're watching stone saints fall over While the black crows will be taking to the sky Falling, falling, falling, fall into me I hear echoes of my speech And I see shadows of my walk I feel the past I always look backwards Sliding down, Oh oh (Fall into me...) My heart is drifting through all shades of green My head is thinking through meadows of the sea Lonely as I am Expanding the scene where I've never (ever) been A promise at last to call back the past To finish off with you - I'm finishing off with you Sliding down, Sliding down, Oh oh (Fall into me...) Falling, falling, falling, fall into me I hear echoes of my speech And I see shadows of my walk I feel the past I always look backwards

This is low-key the most depressing song I've ever heard. It's subtle: the lyrics are vague enough to apply to almost any situation, and it paints such a vivid picture of utter desolation and despair. This is not an ugly cry type of song; this is a song where the music ends, and you come back to yourself only to realize you've spent the last ten minutes lost in thought, chain-smoking, and watching the snow fall on a silent, dead landscape.

This song is a kaleidoscope of feelings. It's like you can hear the distance in it, some strange nostalgia, loneliness, even silence between two people, beauty and pain combined. It makes me miss someone while listening to it. And that feeling is overwhelming. That is why to me it is coloured in green, as green can be so calm and refreshing yet deep, dark and melancholic. Such a masterpiece! ♡

This song, this song my friends, is easily one of the ten best rock songs ever. This song brings me feelings anytime I listen to it. This band, although on some level I feel it would not do too much good, should be praised by millions. But while it isn't, it makes us, who simply accept them as the best rock band ever, feeling special. I met all members apart from Silje and Marjolein, (well also not Bart and Niels etc), met Hans, René, Hugo, Jelmer, Frank, Anneke. All great people! I am thankful for this band, every day I listened to their song wasn't wasted.

Silje has been such an asset to this band. I can understand no longer caring about these guys if you don't like their current direction, but that has nothing to do with the frontwoman, considering that they were on this path long before Anneke left. If someone feels the need to disregard them solely because Silje isn't Anneke, they are being pretty unreasonable. Anneke may be one-of-a-kind, but Silje is also pretty damn special. It is your own fault if you miss out.
