George Foreman = Class. Very good insights on the Rumble in the Jungle.

"He was married to courage", jeez you have to love Big George; it is so touching to see the amount of respect he has for the fighters he fought in the past. Legends like him, Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier are a real credit to the sport of boxing. Awesome interview, 5/5 Stars!

It's good to see george look at things from a totally different angle now he's older and a little more mature. It's clear he has a lot of respect for Ali and how he did things.

Wow, great respect for Foreman. So sincere, calls a spade a spade (about excuses). Understood Ali, that his courage was the key to success, and greatness. Ali's courage (determination, will) overcame greater skill and strength of other boxers.

Great interview. Cool how candid Foreman is about his past. Too bad he never got a rematch with Ali. He obviously would have fought a lot smarter.

@zenmachinefilms Totally agree. Foreman is like everyones favourite uncle these days, his modesty and self effacement is amazing especially in boxing with its huge egos. One thing for sure though Foreman Ali II would result in a different fight entirely with a much cannier Foreman
@zibtihaj321315 жыл бұрын
Actually it was the other way around. Ali said that for years and than 10 years later Foreman actually admitted that he really did not want to fight Ali. Wanted to have no part of Ali.

George does a bit of rewriting of history when he says he didn't mind the crowd cheering Ali. I've read it really peed him off. That's natural. Especially when the whole country was against him
@zibtihaj321314 жыл бұрын
@capablemachine he says that after that fight he was meant to fight Ali - that does not really mean that he really wanted to face him. many fights are meant to happen eventually but never happen. I believe that Foreman said more directly that HE JUST DID NOT WANT TO FACE ALI in another documentary. either that or he could just be is contradicting himself

I've watched the ali foreman fight. You can tell something was wrong with foreman during that fight. He really wasn't himself, he also got up at 8 count and they still called it a KO.
@sliat198112 жыл бұрын
at least he doesn't use pathetic excuses. even said that ali spared him a devistating punch.

@capablemachine foreman said that - I think there is a clip on youtube as well. foreman was never the same after Ali even Frazier was not the same after Ali 1 (Cus Dmato even said that). Ali was never the same after Frazier 3 - the only difference was that Ali kept wining. By the way Foreman said that in a documentary so it is not a misprint.

Wait so Foreman wasn't even really knocked out he just got up late cause he was waiting for his corner when to tell him to get up?
@GenosGlory8 жыл бұрын
Yes the corner usually keeps count and you watch them not the reff. In Foreman's case I am convinced they did it on purpose to make him lose. The same team put medicine in his water.

"Just telling it like it is"...kidding...no I don't hate Cosell...I think u may be reading too much in2 what I'm saying. I know fighters have egos, but I wasn't going in2 that, just pointing out the contradictions. I like George & I don't really know Bensinger, but what I've seen I don't like & I think that's obvious. So I don't need 2 "come out" & say anything. Just coz u feel someone's contradicting themselves & making excuses, doesn't mean u hate 'em. In that case I'd hate the world & myself.
@RandomLevitation12 жыл бұрын
Ali told in a different interview that they didn't like him because when the British occupied Africa the police had German Shephards and Foreman at the time brought his dog to africa. Of ourse Ali was favored but you know Ali got the word.
@samebar11 жыл бұрын
He said he had a short count, he was poisoned by his manager, the ropes were loose, he didn't use an effective punch because someone said; "boo!". Then he compliments his courage and says he spared him. So you don't really know what he believes...maybe he doesn't either.
@Price7016 жыл бұрын
Who cares about a rematch? Ali was 32 Foreman was 25 and unbeaten. Had there been a rematch it would have been in a 24 ft ring, soft canvas insted of the 20 ft ring with a hard canvas in air conditioning. Ali could have boxed in a rematch.
@bikboiii11 жыл бұрын
Hes fighter, fighters have egos. Show me one fighter who will go right out straight and say they lost without some resentment or thinking they could be beat the other guy. This attitude isn't new, but George gave Muhammad ali the respect. I think your over analyzing it or worse yet trying to project something that isn't there.

@capablemachine SIR please he was a pro a PRO most pros know that the general public don't know crap about boxing. iF FOREMAN really thought that he lost unfairly than it would never have destroyed him mentally the WAY HE ADMITS.....it would have bothered him NOT destroyed him. They even felt sorry for Ali and tyson after they lost . this is going no place really. thanks and bye.
@zibtihaj321316 жыл бұрын
GEORGE Changed his water story like 100 times...if you read that book he made 110 excuses for that fight. Afterwards he did not want to fight Ali, wonder why !!
@zibtihaj321314 жыл бұрын
@capablemachine Were did you get the idea that Ali refused to fight him? poor referee, ropes, counts, water (he even said that there was someone in the crowd that confused him - holy smoke Mr george what is this a gym sparring session - were you a pro or some kid learning to box. as far as the count - at the count of 8 George GETS UP AND WALKS TO HIS CORNER DEFEATED - watch it yourself. . I wish i could send you that clip with foreman saying that he never really wanted to face Ali again.
@zibtihaj321314 жыл бұрын
@capablemachine no need to be rude. for all i know you are a crazy foreman fan. I know what i heard- the truth is that Foreman has contradicted himself many times - part of being a great marketer. Ali was the same. case in point George says quick count and all - at count of 8 or so he gets up and HE HIMSELF WALKS AWAY BEATEN without any intervention. I wish i could find that clip where he SAYS all throughout the 70s I wanted a rematch but in reality i never wanted any part of him.
@zibtihaj321314 жыл бұрын
@capablemachine Loose ropes is NOT an excuse to loss the way he did - plus that was not the only excuse Foreman had. he had many many - never settled on one (wonder why). Think about this: Foreman admits to be mentally completely destroyed after the ali fight - if he was convinced that Ali lost "illegitimately" why would the loss bother him so much? it would bother him BUT NOT mess him up mentally the way he admits the fight did. Anyway peace bro i am out of here.
@zibtihaj321314 жыл бұрын
@capablemachine Foreman was still the number one contender after Ali loss. fighting fighters "lower" than him just to get to Ali is a classic ploy to delay things and maybe not even get to the top man..Happens more than you would think..anyway I guess we have to agree to disagree.. even Teddy atlas calls George the biggest fake JUST a marketer. Peace
