Had this man not been a football player for all to appreciate, I would really like to have seen what would have happened had he had the desire and educational background to actively pursue public office. He's exceptionally bright and well-spoken. He would have made a great civil servant at the higher levels.

Jim Bown is a person I have always looked up to. He was the best of the best when football was still a real sport. If he was a youngster in this age he would still be the best of the best. Jim Brown then got into acting and again he mastered whatever he did. In the movie "The Dirty Dozen," stood out like a veteran actor. Mr. Brown spoke out often concerning race relations and didn't shy away from controversial subject. In sports, I was a running back and the only number I wanted was 32. Now I am 61, and I still look up the Mr. Brown. At times I don't agree with him but I know this much he is given every subject a fair shake. Jim Brown Played for Syracuse university. Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little all wore the number 44 (as well as other decent running backs.). This number was retired in November of 2005. If you look at the Syracuse Jerseys From 2005 and beyond all the football jerseys pay tribute to this number. The jersey numbers have angled lines with in the number itself. The lines run parallel with each other and the angle of these paralleled numbers are at a perfect 44 degree angle. Mr. Brown deserves all the accolades he gets. He is a person of virtue, decency and character. I love Jim Brown and pray that more people follow his example of how to live and not what's coming out of professional ball now. I'm not saying this man is perfect but he is a man that exemplifies the qualities and character of what I think is important for men to follow. Thank you Jim Brown.

I first knew him as a movie star, that was when I was young in Africa, after I moved to United States I discovered he actually made his name in football, he was also equally good in basketball, Lacrosse, and track (Wikipedia), I love this guy, he is multi talented, yet he never forgets where he started from, he is always willing to help people who are struggling, trying to bring down violence in black community, he is 75 yrs old and a role model to all of us.

We are just having a discussion, its cool. I really wasn't trying to attack Jim Brown, the adversity he has overcome in his lifetime is inspirational to a person of any race. It just struck a nerve when slavery gets brought into a conversation about NFL players who make millions of dollars and live these ridicious lifestyles. I wasn't trying to put words in his mouth, but I guess I should have listened to more of the interview before posting a comment. Jim Brown is the man, Go Browns!

Very true anyone has the right to feel however they wish but not all white people had relatives that owned slaves and every human being wants to be judged individually and not as a race or based on their ancestors actions. 120 years is a very short amount of time historically and I think we've made a great deal of progress since the days of slavery. Obama being elected as president when most registered voters are white is a pretty big sign of improvement and hopefully things continue improving.

Jim Brown hits the nail on the head. Today's NFL is a JOKE!..It's boring and stale. During the 70's,80's & 90's, I used to wait in anticipation and excitement waiting for the NFL to kickoff, now I could care less because everything about the teams, rules, uniforms, stadiums suck! Today most teams sport tacky black cleats with black tape and black socks WHAT?..Gosh they look like shit. And some uniforms look awful YUCK! Even the NFL logo or symbol looks like a seseme street design.

Jim Brown has some great points about show boating and potential reinforcement of stereotypes with black atheletes. However I think he is completely off by compare playing in the NFL to being a slave. Its an honor to be a player in the NFL and only the most elite of atheletes can reach that point. The difference is majority of the spectators would like to be on that field too and see these guys as almost godlike. The degrading entertainment hes ref'erring to sounds more like "Bum Fights".
