The new North Face Vectiv Eminus was a HUGE surprise and has quickly become one of my favorites this year. Of course there are some caveats (aren't there always) that may make/break for many of you. Does the Eminus look like something you'd try? *NOTE*- ignore the “Try” in the review, should be a “Buy” haha!

Sounds like a good one to try. It’s not orange!

It's awesome to hear that you like the outsole compound on the Eminus. I ran/hiked 11mi 3600ft in my new Vectiv Enduris yesterday. I loved the fit, rocker, cushion and lockdown. I did not like the grip of the outsole on rocks and I slid several times.

The color way of this model isn't offered in the NF website. It isn't exactly like you reviewed. Not a criticism of you but just a bit disappointing that NF would send you a shoe to review in a they're not producing exactly.

This shoe is growing on me. Starting to like it. First few runs were rough until I used those extra lace holes. Now the pressure on the top of my foot is gone. I'm much slower in it because I can feel everything on the trail (rocky trails). It's going to be my casual trail shoe for sure.
@Ben-qb4lj2 жыл бұрын
How did more lace holes reduce pressure? I bought my normal size 11, and had to cut the kevlar to loosen it up on my upper left foot

I grabbed a vective pair last year on sale. I work on my feet at a golf course. The new foams are surely a little softer.

Think the Eminus would perform well in a 100 mile race? Trails are well groomed, undulating, with plenty of tree roots.

I hate to say what everyone else does... but great review. This sounds strikingly familiar to the Patagonia Everlong and/or the Pure Grit version one, both wistful favorites from the past that've never been duplicated. Does this in fact compare, as something like the Everlong would be great? Trying to keep this short and to the point. Thanks!
@TheGingerRunner2 жыл бұрын
Oh man, the original Pure Grit - ran my first ultra in those! Great comparison, though these feel a lot more comfortable and the grip is solid (vs how terribly abysmal the PG1s were!)

Comfortable and enjoyable runnning experience but...after 320km/2months there are huge holes in my healcounter, where heels rub against the soft lining :(

Oooh much excite! Any idea why TNF seems to use short lugs on all their shoes? I want some 5mm+! After spending so much time with the incredible Vibram Megagrip I'm tentative to try anything less on the technical and wet New England trails

Check out the FutureLight versions of the Enduris for example - deeper lugs and water proof material. Use them a lot when it gets sloppy!

I'm curious how much of the underfoot feels the TPU footbed rather than the EVA. I've experimented with Inov-8 boomerang insoles and they can make a world of difference especially over firmer midsoles.
@TheGingerRunner2 жыл бұрын
These are super squishy so the TPU feels less impactful than it’s carbon counterpart up the line. Prob just some added protection is what I’m feeling. I like the boomerang insole a lot, I imagine they’d only add to the already squishy midsole.

Is the lack of stability due to your foot being so much wider than the shoe? The lateral side of your foot looks to really spill over
@TheGingerRunner2 жыл бұрын
I think that’s due in part to the hill I’m standing on. No issues with that at all while running.

11.9 oz.!! Wow, funny how things change. You use to ding shoes for gaining a modest amount of weight in an update and now your talking about a favorite shoe of the year without even mentioning the weight in dislikes. And it feels nothing like your shoe of the year in 2021?? Also, a lateral lean in a trail running shoe does not sound like a good idea. 🤷♂️
