I think during the first album they gave Nicola less because they thought she lacked confidence being so young. How wrong they were. Cheryl I can see why they gave her a lot of vocals as she has that star quality which shined through however

it just looks strange without Cheryl. I'm so used to seeing five girls, even when I can't tell them apart. It really has to do with the inception of the band. If it had been formed without her then she wouldn't be missed but image is so important to their whole career that literally not seeing five girls makes it look wrong

Defo a pre-recorded vocal, probably because they had to swap out lines so couldn't just use the studio versions. They must've known Cheryl wasn't going to be there enough in advance to record that though
