Mary Macarthur Memorial Gardens were created in 1950 to remember Mary Macarthur who led a succesfull strike by women chainmakers in 1910. Uptil 1950 the ground the gardens occupy were used to dump the waste spoil from local coal mines and towered over the houses opposite. Bobby Woods presents a very entertaining tour of the gardens.
