Q&A:
Does dermaplaning make hair grow back thicker?
NO! Vellus hair (peach fuzz) does not grow back thicker. It’s actually a myth that shaving makes hair grow back thicker. It just feels that way because you’re cutting the hair off at the thickest point, at an angle, so it’s bound to feel rough.
How often will I have to do this treatment?
Dermaplaning is best done every 4 weeks. However if you chose to do this once or twice for a special occasion, there is no negative side effects from doing so.
Is it safe for someone with acne?
No. Unfortunately, if you have active breakouts, dermaplaning can cause those pustules to open & spread bacteria on your face. Yuck.
Can’t I just shave my face at home?
You could, but It would be nothing like dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is an EXFOLIATION service, the hair removal is just a bonus. At home razors are not sharp, or precise enough to remove dead skin effectively.
What about waxing?
Again, dermaplaning is an EXFOLIATION service, the hair removal is just a bonus. Facial waxing does provide slight exfoliation, however it pales in comparison to dermaplaning.

Marta Motevassel what exactly does her comment have to do with being black? You could have said how rude the comment was without referring to race, that made you sound very ignorant and a little racist. I have met plenty of people who were complete douche bags regardless of race. You don’t know the struggle of black women or why the miscommunication happened. There are a lot of smart asses on yt so I get it, not excusing the rudeness. Should I revert one of my experiences with a rude Caucasian to all Caucasians being self centered, entitled idiots who think they know everything? No because that would be considered disrespectful and “racist” right. I was fully ready to agree until you added the unnecessary commentary of her race. Do better as a human.

That's why I don't like this process. Her first pimple which was shaved shouldn't have been touched because it was in the process of healing. It's probably going to scar more than if it was left alone. This girl should be seeing a dermatologist before she ends up with more holes in her face. I personally think this is a scam and does nothing more than a good washrag with cleanser would do if used on a regular basis. Plus the peach fuzz will grow back.

Just wanted to add as a girl who is a mix of Mexican, Italian, and Greek (aka some of the hairiest peeps). I get a lot of peach fuzz and it is dark because my hair is dark. I also have really sensitive skin, so waxing AND shaving make me itch and break out. Dermalplaning actually does wonders. It removes my hair without irritating me and it removes my dead skin UNLIKE using a normal shaving razor does (also gets into tight spots that razors can’t). Hope this helps out those you are confused about the difference between this and using a normal razor

@@eternalbangtan Hi! I've been dong this for years and my hair doesn't grow back thicker or darker. I just get the same peach fuzz I already had. Granted, my peach fuzz is and has always been a bit darker just because of my genes. I recommend it because it has worked the best for me, but if you are still anxious about it, I would suggest testing a small patch before attempting your whole face. Hopefully this response helped some!

Matilde Jiménez while this administrator has mad skills, you can achieve the same results with a wet shave in the shower. But for women, the concept of face shaving is too much like what a man does. Enter dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is probably a little more thorough though.
@WoodFaerie
@WoodFaerie 5 жыл бұрын
@@tuffstuff2U looking at it. Its alot more thorough, the only reason, i can assume is because theres only one blade which in the video its stated as a surgical blade, so extremely sharp. Which made a pretty noticeable difference fuck, i'd even do this if my hands weren't so goddamn shaky.

Persephone Lilac I'm an esthetician. I don't do dermaplaning but I'm not knocking it! I think it's cool. But, it is fundamentally a very close shave. I occasionally recommend shower shaving to some women as an alternative form of occasional exfoliation who aren't doing other forms of exfoliation, ie; daily scrubs, retinA, etc, and have diffuse soft black hair, or vellum white hair from hormonal changes that is bothersome to them and effects their make up application. Why do you think men's faces are so smooth where they shave compared to the rest of their face... it's because of the regular exfoliation they do with shaving. However, face shaving takes practice, and one must use a razor only a few times due to the build up of bacteria that can cause/lead to folliculitus (razor bumps). I concede dermaplaning is more precise, and probably more sterile. I say do what works for your lifestyle, budget and needs.

I get electrolysis on my facial hair (sideburns/jaw and upper lip). I’d recommend to anyone. It has reduced the hair drastically. Reduced the quality that goes and what atm still grows back is a lot lighter. It also grows back soft. If you shave it it’ll feel like stubble because you are just chuck the hair. Think about how the ends of hair on head look after you cut it really blunt. If you remove the hair entirely from the hair follicles then itll be so much softer and take longer to grow back. It’s not a one time treatment as you have to go until the hair stops but eventually you’ll have to go less and less. It is also a bit painful but nothing too bad

About 20 years ago, someone who had a beautiful complexion confided in me that her beauty secret was shaving her face everyday. I was surprised and worried that the hair would grow back thick and coarse. She said she had been doing it for years. I started doing it and never had a problem. No coarse hair, but great skin that looks much younger than my age. If I don't shave for a week just regular facial hair grows. Now they do it with a bikini razor and call it dermaplaning and they charge a bundle for it. Harry's razor from Walmart works well.

If you have acne prone skin or congested skin don't even try it. Personally except for laser treatments, anything that removes hair or even fuzz makes me break out and creates reb visible vessels (razor, silk and peel, hot wax, strips, gloves, creams, foams, plugging, treading, etc). Wouldn't try that to my face even if I was being paid. Not to mention the risk for people with hormonal imbalance of having the hair grow back stiff until they reach maximum length. It's a no no. Why treat your face so vigorously? There are so many sophisticated and precise treatments. Salons do that because it's almost no cost for them and it needs to be done frequently so it's easy and secure money. But overtime the skin gets thickened and looks soft only for a couple of days after the treatment. Save your money for good healthy food, good skin care and treatments that have an impact on your skin (chemical peels, injections, luxurious facials, microdermabrasion, anything else basically). Plus it not even hygienic to perform such a treatment on a skin with active acne like the girl here. You put her in major risk of spreading bacteria and creating huge acne on her face. Very inconsiderate!
@Lisa-hk6qj
@Lisa-hk6qj 6 жыл бұрын
sasablink I second your opinion about acne prone skin! One of things in the disclaimer said "people w/acne prone skin should not get dermaplaining." This girl OBVIOUSLY has acne prone skin! After the treatment those acne spots look more inflamed! Her skin make me cringe....! She should stop dermaplaining and work on fixing the cause of her breakouts. Then once her face is cleared up she can go back to dermaplaining.

E Bangalter a. Asian skin is quite different than black or Mediterranean. It barely has any peach fuzz. B. The fact that something was used doesn't mean it's good, they just didn't have anything better, now we do. Plus I get it people doing it on their own but I find it unbearable that salons charge for it as a treatment. It has close zero cost for them and it needs zero knowledge. And it's not a treatment! Give me a break!(not you :), salons)

Is upper lip hair considered Vellus hair? I’d like to try dermaplaning but I also don’t want a mustache.
