For anyone who spotted the t shirt change, yes this was over two days, stuff came up 😂 Anyway, this is genuinely a very straightforward one if it's something you've been looking to do.

First step. I think your calm relaxed style of presentation is the winner. Things go wrong there are always glitches but you always get the job done with the minimum of fuss. I am waiting to see the carbs! I have seen some " interesting " videos on those. Another sound video. 👍

I've honestly never gotten mad or lost my temper working on bikes, cars yes, but I was also younger. The carbs are coming up, I've located a rebuild kit and it's on the way, so should be getting them done very soon :) Looks like itll be interesting to say the least 😂

There used to be a guy around here that rode a Rebel 250 with a full size human skull mounted to the front mudguard. I have no idea if he was serious or just had an absurd sense of humor, but it made me laugh every time I saw it. Videos like this are useful to people like me (more or less competent, but not a natural mechanic or engineer type), as they illustrate that most maintenance tasks aren’t that complicated, and can be safely completed at home.

Hahaha that had to have been a pisstake 😂😂 Id love to see that to be fair it'd be funny. That is good, that was the aim! I'm not special or in any way talented either I was just exposed to it all early in life. Plus it showed me exactly that, with a bit of patience and investment in decent tools you can do almost all of it yourself .

Haha likewise tbh! When I see you and a few others tipping away it makes me get off my ass and go do stuff.

Good vid again. I have cable clutch, but good to see how to for future reference/basic principals. Will be doing brakes soon, so master cylinder rebuild will be watched for sure. OC - your vids help no end, so nothing I've seen has daunted me. No doubt there will be problems that I come across, but I'm very fortunate that, as a pleasure only rider, I don't have time pressure if things go off script. Cheers, Andy.

Thank you sir, clutch cables just keep them lubed well and they'll generally last forever. I shall do that asap then amigo :) That is good, I'm glad these work for some people :) I'm not a cameraman naturally so it's really hard to remember to try show everything :P That's the way to have it trying anything maintenance related tbh, time and patience.

Did I not tell you one of the requirements was that you add even MORE skulls!? Yeah those levers need to go for sure. Glad it came with the originals.

Hahaha I'll add a skull somewhere appropriate :P I mean they feel like they're made of plastic too which is really no bueno 😂 Me tooooo :)

Well that's timing, as the clutch master cylinder on my Blackbird needs servicing, it has a slow leak which I only discovered when I parked it up for a week on the side stand instead of the mainstand. I'll book mark this vid for when i get the kit.

You'll fly through it! The only thing that's ever painful on those bikes is the brakes and only then cus of bleeding them! I hate bleeding those linked systems 😂 Glad you spotted it!

@@TheGorillaBiker One of those fancy pliers too. I used to be able to do stuff on my bike then got super lazy and had "the man" look after it. I was thinking of getting rid of the Blackbird, but I think I will use it as a learning tool for light general maintenance. Its not the prettiest, but runs and rides fine baring the 25 year old suspension and my fat arse lol.

@@AuldhannRua Yeah the fancy pliers are critical, you in theory can use something else but you'll hate everything that's ever lived once you try it. Yeah, I've had that urge then thankfully for my wallet my distrustful brain can let anyone else touch my bike 😂 The lads in freeman I'd let if I was still at home. Ah yeah that's a great idea! You'd never know what they'll end up being worth too! Haha trust me I get that 😂

Kuryakyn makes some nice wide levers for "Val." Thanks for showing your work, im learning. Do you have any idea how great she's gonna ride... You're goin to giggle!

I definitely won't be calling it Val :P I only name bikes once I've ridden them :) I'll have a look at them, honestly I've never had a huge issue with stock levers. Thanks for watching it :) Haha I sadly do not, but I can't wait to get it back running!

@@TheGorillaBiker my wife says, "oh... out Shineing " Val" again. Was a good lesson on hydraulic clutch rebuild. I've just added new progressive 444s and she sure is handling nicely. She just get better. Now to tune the brakes. Looking forward to hearing you smile when you get" the ride."

I'm also very poor at shining bikes :D Your Val will be a lot shinier than mine! Glad you thought so, I was pricing those, may go that way myself.

Ay nice video! Very informative. Have you considered using an Ultrasonic cleaner? They're incredible especially for older bike parts. When my friend and I rebuild the carburetor in my Vulcan 800 Classic a few years back, we used one. It was pretty impressive.

Thanks! I had one in Ireland, used it all the time. Too expensive to ship everything I had tho so I have it to my dad. Wouldn't have worked here anyway due to your differences in power transmission etc. Id get another one but they're pricey and I don't have as much space anymore.
