From his looks and name, I think he’s of Indian descent. Some South Asian parents don’t let kids go close to dogs because there are a lot of unvaccinated strays in those countries and parents sort of scare the kids saying they’re dangerous. So even if he grew up in the UK maybe he grew up with the idea.

To be fair to her, if you have to live on benefits, that means your working EXTRA hard for crap pay. And that means she's probably don't have enough energy at her age to just jump on chores like that. Talk to some older people in retail, while doing retail yourself, then you understand why it's so tempting to just binge watch TV after a long day of crap pay. Some people just don't have the energy to keep going after a day's work.

Being poor isn’t an excuse to live dirty and messy. I myself lived the majority of my life with a housemaid living in our house who does all the cleaning, washing dishes, and laundry. Then when I moved out of the house I always kept my apartment clean and did everything the maid did for me my whole life, even things as simple as opening the windows to renew the air which surprisingly a lot of people don’t do and they just end up getting used to the stinky odour that of closed places
