That last map should be a boilerplate for minor settlement battles. One side has a clear defensive advantage with the high ground and a couple barriers but the map is still open enough that cavalry and flanking matter. The defender could also sally out if they are at an artillery/archer disadvantage. Right now the AI just sits in there settlement while getting worn down by range and magic. I don’t mind some of the minor settlement battles, but they basically all play the same and a set up like that map would be a refreshing change of page
@SimplyVaed17 күн бұрын
Man it's SO annoying to play a siege battle with a faction like dwarves where your army has a bunch of artillery and you just... cant make use of them. That last quest battle map would be awesome.

I wish they kept the cinematics for all the other legendary lords it’d be so cool to have their own introduction. I wonder why they removed them
@WilliStriker16 күн бұрын
They really should add all the cinematics into WH3. thats the least story they should do for IE
@Poisonedwight14 күн бұрын
@@WilliStriker ye I wish they could add some story info IE because the other game modes have story but you can only play certain factions which just isn’t as fun. The only “story” we kinda get in IE is the misssions but even then there’s only like 3 important misssions for your Lord that gives you the purple gear. we need more story driven stufff in it because it gets boring just fighting and colonising places after a while. Plus there needs to be some updates or reworks on lords especially malekith you cannot get anywhere with him he’s surrounded by enemies

4:49 Skarbrand also had that issue. It probably had something to do with the transferring the hero into your army which reduces movement speed.

I think 10% skill in movement should be enough to fix it

My very first long playthrough of TWW3 was as a Bloodletter-focused Khorne campaign. I'm so happy Skulltaker just expands on Lesser Daemon-only Khorne playthroughs, and honestly I think Khorne performs by far the best in Lesser Daemon only playthroughs, with so many good and useful options that give you a rounded out roster and playstyle.
@axios470214 күн бұрын
Honestly I'm excited to play Skulltaker just to see how far I can take a full army of bloodletters. Sure I'll get those skull cannon bikes and the cavalry version on the metal monsters, but I only want red daemons f*cking shit up everywhere, no minotaurs, no bloodthirsters, just the boys out and about painting the town red.
@rafanowotny210817 күн бұрын
"You are surrounded" I think Skulltaker will see it as "you think I'm locked here with you? you are locked here with ME" situation :)

Autoresolving the first few battles of a campaign is never a good idea in my opinion. You need your units to be healthy in the beginning where losing units completely is costly
@mr.joesterr535917 күн бұрын
Agreed I always fight at least the first 4 battles manually and it makes a WORLD of difference on legendary vhbd. Its the difference from being op all game and barely surviving a permanent disaster campaign. (for most lords. dorfs and chaos can AR and do fine)
@madnessoblivion17 күн бұрын
I know a lot of people just stick it easiest to auto resolve early battles as they know they can do it before upping difficulty especially for coop
@sobek49716 күн бұрын
He mentioned way back on the day, the same thing, but he mostly does it to save on recording. Excellent tip though!
@ProduccionesPaquito16 күн бұрын
Manually resolving the first few battles also gives you a good feel of how the character and faction should work in combat, which is neat

Queek could just give LL defeat traits to his whole faction instead of only him. Unique, powerful and simple to implement.
@HiddenEvilStudios17 күн бұрын
I think a better implementation would be to make it similar to Gorbad's new mechanic, except it only provides trophies from armies Queek personally beats and has a maximum of four or five slots that could provide either personal or faction buffs. Maybe you could pick from a dilemma after winning a battle about which body part to collect, with different factions granting different effects. Say, if you defeat an army led by the Fey Enchantress with two heroes in it, it could offer you the coice between the Damsel's scalp, the Paladin's heart and the Enchantress's feet or something like that. Basically a mix of Gorbad's new thing and Grom's Cauldron, again.
@KronosV17 күн бұрын
Honestly i'm kinda OK with using bloodletting for getting to first settlement, but that can be done better. Add quest with manifestation recharge, and that will be ok

"growth is slow" just as I suspected with bloodletting getting rid of global bonuses. CA probably didn't think of compensating fir that loss of growth...*sigh* Same with Skarbrand losing his movement after battle bonus while being stuck in the 'oh I need 3 turns to get to the next settlement' - part of the badlands.

Narratives are important because they help build out the themes of the DLC and the world. This is why i have a problem with just getting rid of the RoC campain: i get it's not the focus, but sometimes you just want that, you know?
@vortex160317 күн бұрын
For me, abandoning Roc was a good choice for CA. For narratives, CA really needs to revisited (again) the victory conditions of each faction.
@Nimrod320217 күн бұрын
Agreed, and CA doesn’t even need to craft super deep mechanics for DLC narratives. They just need to establish that the new DLC lords are competing against each other at the start of a campaign and then have giant, climactic battle with them once you’ve completed enough of the goals related to each lord. That’s exactly what they did for most DLC lords in Warhammer II. So, for example, once Golgfag has completed enough mercenary contracts or Skulltaker has leveled up his cloak enough, they get a quest battle against the other two lords. Easy to make, and leaves the DLC more interesting.
@Pruhbruh_17 күн бұрын
@@Nimrod3202 the fights between the characters in some final battle are only relevant when they actually fought in the lore, otherwise it makes little sense as a narrative point of view, i feel like the campaign should have a loose goal for victory that skulltaker would want, like completing your skull cloak and maybe defeat x lord in a quest style battle then once you achieve victory get rewarded with some powerful unique faction benefit that incentivises you to wanna keep playing and take over the map. Although I haven’t seen the victory conditions yet so maybe it is along those lines.
@Nimrod320217 күн бұрын
@@Pruhbruh_ I disagree, because CA can just easily come with new lore and a new story and/or expand on existing lore and story for why they are interacting now, and one of the fun things about Total War: Warhammer is that it allows certain race interactions that never appeared in the original tabletop games. Also, it's an entire world; every faction has interacted with every other faction at least once in their history anyway. The idea that CA can only adapt story elements that have appeared in lore beforehand feels like it would lead to a lot of creative stagnation. Again, CA has already done this with Warhammer II like with the Twisted and the Twilight DLC (my personal favorite DLC story-wise). It was a cool idea of Ariel and the Sisters of Twilight having to prevent potential daemonic incursions into their magical forests due to the Vortex destabilizing, and Drycha choosing to tell Throt about them, leading him to want to eat Ariel to relieve his constant hunger is also really inspired. It's a fun and simple story that kept me interested during the Vortex campaign. Also, I personally think I just came up with a pretty alright idea for a simple but still engaging narrative for Omens of Destruction. Gorbad is revealed to have survived his final battle with the Dwarfs due to X reason (could be because of his unusual intelligence for an orc, divine assistance from Gork (or possibly Mork), etc.), and he is planning to build another massive Waaagh army to finish what he started. Golgfag, knowing that every human nation and Dwarf clan on the planet would pay the person who finally ends Gorbad for good an unbelievable amount of money, decides to set out to go collect the bounty on the legendary orc. Meanwhile, Skulltaker senses that one of the greatest Greenskins in existence is still alive, and he seeks to add Gorbad's skull to his cloak with Golgfag being an unexpected but great bonus champion to reap as well. Simple, but still engaging, imo.

HUGE downside imo too is the lack of a narrative... i mean think of warden an paunch or even how you said with elspeth.. skulltaker is just dumb killing wheras i dont get why i should make him the one destroying everythin. Honestly, I see no reason to ever play the skulltaker over skarbrand or arbaal. His faction mechanic is really boring and he buffs rather weak units in ways that barely help (this reforging stuff is so stupid). Arbaal has way better and more interesting mechanics and he buffs good units in a way that matters. And skarbrand is rampaging harder than both, buffs the big monsters and has the strongest bloodhost armies. But overall I am kinda dissapointed with the khorne side of the dlc. Even the rework wasn't all that good. Spamming bloodhost armies is easier than ever and that was allready a mechanic that needed to be nerfed, not buffed.
