Very interesting! The young Dunster was the model for Rudyard Kipling's 'Stalky'. When I was at primary school in the 1950s. I was madly in love 😄 with a girl whose mother was Dunster's daughter (and my 'girlfriend's' father was one of the few successful escapees from Colditz in WW2), but, alas, I didn't get to hear anything about Dunster other than the above.

wow wow wow! Sounds amazing! Thank you for sharing, in my young ages I was madly in love with stalky himself after reading kipling's book. That really influenced all my live - I know a great deal about Dunsterville, Kipling and Beresford - those two friends from the book and now I'm Kipling's translator in russia (Russian is my native language)

One of the reasons that they had so many NCOs with their armoured cars was that this was largely manned by the remains of the RNAS armoured car squadron that had been formed in Belgium in 1914, and then sent over to Russia. The Royal Navy automatically promoted all of the men of their armoured car squadron to Petty Officer because they had all joined with the knowledge of how to run and repair a car, which was considered a skilled trade.
@bocajuniorslomejor91527 жыл бұрын
Would be nice to have a video on the war years in Persia, I know there was the Out of the Trenches one, but it seems the situation was a lot more complicated than mentioned there. And the resources online for this topic aren't great... even though the historic implications of Russian/British meddling in the Constitutional Revolution from 1911 and during and after WW1 form the start of a series of events that culminated in the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the deep rooted fears of Western interference that characterizes Iranian politics to this day.
