The skip is intended for speedrunners, not for casual players. If they didn't want casual players to have to do B-sides first, they wouldn't put a barrier there.

You're probably aware of this, but it's possible to get through the gap at 15:10 without holding onto that block first. Don't know how consistent that is, but I used that in my casual playthrough because for some reason it didn't occur to me that I could grab that block.

Very cool! At 17:59 you can dash straight in to the feather without exploding the fish and then fly round the fish with the feather. I am not sure if it saves time, but it looks like it does. Anyways keep up the speedrunning, I enjoy watching you :)

I tried that a few times during my casual playthrough; the space you can pass through without bouncing off the fish is _really_ narrow. He could probably pull it off, but since Farewell is such a long room, I guess it wasn't worth the risk of having to redo that much gameplay. Edit: Yeah they do it in runs now

If you want to save half a second or something minor, at 17:59 you can just dash up to the feather, you don't need to bounce off the fish.

Meanwhile, I finally got my first sub-1h Any% today, after having not played the game for over a year. I'll be happy if I can get down to just 2X your record, so ... 55m02s I guess. And then hopefully 36m10s or less for ch9.

1H is definitely do-able, and doesn't require devoting a huge amount of time to practicing. Mostly it just requires being slow and careful to avoid dying a lot. The hard part for me is making myself slow down and stop taking risks.

It's interesting how many of these rooms are not (or don't seem to be currently) breakable, where you just cut corners, but stick to the intended strat. Also, I'm surprised you didn't take the upper path at 2:05. I thought it was definetely a shortcut. Is it not faster in the end, or is it just not consistent at the moment? Congrats on the PB and the excellent run! I'm sure you'll get even better with time, though. Even with so many close calls and saves, there's clearly a big room for improvement.

I don't know if it's helpful but in the room at 16:18 you can skip the first fish with the bird and dash between the second fish and the electricity and boost yourself on the right of the second fish. It maybe saves 1 second but 1 second is 1 second 😄
