Interested in the AZ standard but i think it's a weird decision to use the Ibanez T106 6 point tremolo instead of the 2-point T102.

I hate the trem on the AZ was not recessed, it's a big difference when trying to get the action low . It was the case between the Wolfgang standard vs the special.

@@RECTIFIER101 That's only true when thinking about floyd rose trems due to the height of the design. Top mounted floyd rose trems are vary taller in stature. Normally that is offset by the angle of the neck. With the 2-6 point trem it should make no real difference. the plates are thin, the saddles are height adjustable. adjusted at the lowest possible level the strings are flat on the frets.

@@masonmoffort not true, I have all the designs including the Wolfgang's, I have a few with fixed bridge hip shots and you have to lower each saddle and still can't get as low as guitars with recessed bridges without shimming the neck.

Those AZ STDs are pretty cool. Almost 2 years later I'm still really enjoying the feel of my Quest, but I had to put AlNiCo humbuckers in it to love how it sounds. Tonewood + tonemagnets? Who knows? But these tapered edge Ibanaez bodies are so flippin' comfortable that I may need to get a more traditional one. Looking forward to the demos of as many of these as you can give us.

I absolutely love AZ’s, it’s the only Ibanez model I feel comfortable playing since I don’t like super modern guitars, I’m glad they’re introducing the standard line, I would feel extremely comfortable suggesting it to my students who are looking for their first electric guitar and their parents don’t wanna break the bank

The new semi-hollow bodies with the scrolling ‘tree of life’ inlays look incredible for less than £800 together with the AZ’s with locking pegs and steel frets for £500 they put other ‘high end’ brands to shame.

That AZ violin sunburst at the end looks very very similar to an Ibanez I saw in 1987 that I wanted as my first guitar. It wasn't expensive but my mother decided to buy a god awful no name Les Paul rip off for about the same price. It did the job for learning my first chords I suppose but I really wanted that Ibanez..

2 tiny corrections, the RGR6B is Standard model, and has Edge-Zero II bridge. Looks cool! Wouldn't want to correct Dan, we are his students hahahha but..... Haha. RG565 and the RG460 were my favourites!!

@drdan1406 Thanks Dan. My small hands dont like 5 strings. Working on a Pearl Jam tribute band, fretless bas and 12 strings bas are key, but no 5 strings in sight. For me the additional 5th strings makes a fretless extra hard to play/learn. The SRF700 would be an alternative, but seems way more ‘classic’ than the modern EHB basses. A headless fretless bass would be an awesome addition to my headless guitars 🙂

I assume that Ibanez Japan has done some decent market research. Most 'modern' basses, headless or not, and Ibanez or not, are 5 stringed nowadays. Is seems I am in the minority of users that want a modern 4 string.

The thing that really turns me off with Ibanez is the limited color palette, come on man! give me a dimebag kind of slime green, or a hello kitty pink, or a purple fade in the AZ line. Instead, its always blue, black and maybe red. I would love to get one of those made in Japan 80s shredders but those colors just dont resonate with me.

The original jems and RGs didn't have that sloping heel joint, they had a reduced flat heel joint. Best way I can explain it.

Yes, the return to the squared heel. I had an original RG570 that I played and beat to @&$”. After a couple of tours I traded it just to try something new. I have been keeping my eye out for a used early 560 or 570?(no pick guards). For a couple of years.

@TheGuitarGeek some recent bass models by ibanez if they brought the finish over to rg would be killer. Example : SR1420B thats a premium model bass but you get the idea. Another would be a quilted maple top hardtail rg with rosewood fingerboard sharktooth inlay like the old rg's and matching headstock. The closest in acceptable price range would be model RG421QM. If we could get this guitar back to more colors and the specs of a 2004-05 rg3ex, i would be very pleased.

Japanese guitars are the best period! I grew up on a Matsumoku made,1986 Westone spectrum LX (198-mbk) & today, I have a 86 Sx model & it is far superior to many guitars!!! Hold tune better, I can drop tune via the fine tuners on a bendmaster trem/vibrato. I love mij guitars!!!

Hey Ibanez, When people have to do videos to explain what your models are, you are doing something wrong. Your website does a less than stellar job of explaining anything. No prices, no explanation of where each model is made etc. I want to buy a guitar, and Ibanez would be a contender if you explained yourself better.
