Seriously people calling this project dodgy couldn’t paint a fence. Chicken wire and an inch of bog is dodgy. Appropriate surface treatment and filler work is not. And yeah, doing your own car at your own pace is not the same thing as work 100%. Loving this series man, thank you 🤙🏽

No need to justify how you're doing your own car, its great to see a real world achievable paintjob in your garage, for me this is your best series of videos youve done and ive been watching you for years.

Pleased to see you are still enjoying working on your Torana Gunny, as you said this is project in not a money driven venture to you can get it finished quicky if you want or take 5 years over it. I like the fact you are not making this a show car finish as I think you would be frightened to use it on the roads, your keeping it real mate making it a nice presentable daily driver👌 Just keep doing what you are doing Gunny it's looking great👏👍John UK

Something to comment on. Everyone has an opinion and some are even made with the best intentions but, your project, your way of doing it and therefore the only opinion that counts is yours.

@TheGunmanChannel Yeah one of the local paint shops here in Bendigo sell duxone/axalta stuff. I got some challenger cl490 2k hs primer surfacer off them which is made by axalta. I sprayed it through a devilbiss gpi (which I purchased after watching one of your reviews) and the primer sprayed very nice through the 1.8 Tip and about 20% reducer. I tried the primer filler with no reducer and it came out too dry. I’ve done a few jobs with that gpi and it puts the paint on nicely. Good going on the torana by the way. I really enjoy watching it. It helps me ease my mind about being too anal with things in regards to myths about using too much bog. I do my best to get majority of dents out and get things pretty straight,,, but I’m completely at ease now and not feeling so guilty about using body filler
@TheGunmanChannel Жыл бұрын
Challenger is all good. And absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of bog. I actually grew up in Bendigo.

The criticism of your work is ridiculous considering you're a professional painter. If you decide to roll the dice on a 'close enough' job here and there on your own car and it fails/peels/chips/etc, you're in a prime position to fix it up. Everyone who's into DIY does it, I don't see the problem if it isn't for a customer or for a dodgy resale.
@chriswortham3869 Жыл бұрын
Make sure you include slick sand primer please.
@alecjackson9295 Жыл бұрын
Hi, you mention several different types of primer in your video, epoxy, urathane and polyester, when and why do you use the different types, thanks in advance Gunny.
@merlyn3090 Жыл бұрын
Good afternoon,, My question is of course everything is expensive so I prefer to save money where I can without messing up the job. I currently have omni epoxy primer and omni high build. I was hoping to save on the base and have a better clear but I wasn't sure about painting on top of different brand names. I'm trying to match my truck color which is red quartz tintcoat on the gmc truck. What brands would you recommend without losing out on the look or procedures. Very stressful. Thank you for your time. Don L

I think your subscriber's will be more gutted when its finished than you mate, you should do a gunman live when its in the booth for final coats, be amazing to see you face when all the hard work is done and the car is shining under the lights

I still have my GPI and GTI Pro-lite from watching your channel back in 2019. GTI for base 1.4 and GTI for clear T110 1.3 tip. They don’t make either one of them now. If you find one new its fake

@TheGunmanChannel Thanks man. Yeah the folks at the paint shop who sold me the 2k direct gloss from the 68 line said they recommend that I use glas branded products from start to finish as glas wouldn’t warranty anything if I had de lam issues or whatever. Especially if I used the more expensive 22 line direct gloss. And bloody hell did I get a shock. 2grand just for the paint! Granted the car is 2 tone but geez,,, 2 grand????? I tell ya,,, it’s definitely not the time to go restoring cars man. Everything is dear as poison!
@TheGunmanChannel Жыл бұрын
Tell me about it man, honestly I'd look at some budget paints, Axalta have great products that are actually affordable!! I'd spray it in clear over base, the clear will hold up better than 2K.

Haha,,, yeah no kidding??? I grew up in shepparton but I’ve lived here in Bendigo for 5 years and have some family that’s been here for years. @caseylittle6417 Жыл бұрын
@TheGunmanChannel Hey Gunny. I think I remember you say you used to use a lot of glasurit paint. Is it advisable to use a glasurit brand primer sealer before the glasurit top coat, or can I put my glas direct gloss on any brand primer?
@TheGunmanChannel Жыл бұрын
You can use it over any primer, as long as it's been sanded you'll get mechanical adhesion.
