What a legend! . I’m planning to spray my own Porsche 911 from white to a flashy green! Can I just sand it down with 500 grit followed my finer grit then spray base coat followed by clear? Or it’s better to shoot a primer ? Could you please advise on steps of such color change? Noting that my white paint is in mint condition and the car is 2021 MY! I need your help. Huge respect as always ❤

Do you think overall you save time with the 1 visit, do you think its a bit more hassle and is it ok to dust some more base on areas when its dry, sorry for all the questions the system I'm on which is Mipa has just brought out a 1 visit additive and not sure if its worth trying, they have said it can change colour Good work the metallic looked like it laid down nice 👍

@@TheHumblePaintSprayer333 honestly, use it as a tool, gain as much knowledge and experience as you can, then use it just like any other tool, in the right circumstances. Learn it's strong and weak points.

I hope she's okay after the accident? Really curious how that VOC clear holds up to the Aussie sun and weather.

I saw your last video of the OneVisit. Gonna ask our paint rep if it's available in the U.S pretty soon
@TheGunmanChannelКүн бұрын
@@asideoffries3000 I would be surprised if it isn't already, PPG is of course an American company, so I would imagine you guys get stuff first, and I know Europe have had it for at least a year already.

Hey mate, Love your vids. Inspired me to paint my own car a few times! (obviously some rookie mistakes have been made) I need to take a couple panels back to bare metal... is a flappy disk okay to use or is it too much?
@TheGunmanChannelКүн бұрын
@@Joshcole I would use an orbital sander with 80 grit, then hit the metal with 120, then prime accordingly

@@TheGunmanChannel Thanks for the response, can you explain a little more, I've only painted a few cars and thought you always start at the center of a panel and work towards you so there's no chance of touching wet paint leaning over?
@barrysmith546610 сағат бұрын
@@iddddaduncan It’s because the start edge starts drying before you come back to join back to it ,therefore it’s better to start on one side and keep moving across so that the edge of the fan stays wet.

Great video as always Gunny, I remember you using the Quartz Crystal Clear on the black roof of your car it ended up scratching easier than other clears and was a right pita to polish, I think that was around the time you was testing the peelable paint on your car as well🤔 Never used the Quartz VOC clear before as I think it needs a bake which I don't have but man the gloss on your Merc is outstanding👌👍John UK

Personally I don’t think it’s any faster. Maybe the booths I use at work are just super efficient (they are newer) but i do agree with your point, it does seem like gloss retention is a bit better when using the one visit. Idk I just gotta get used to it. To me I feel like it uses more base on average and doing a drop coat over a wet coat just feels unnatural to me. Even though that’s how u are supposed to do it one choice. It’s just a bit of a learning curve when you’ve been painting the traditional way for 10 years
