8131 came out in the UK in 2018. It’s an excellent clearcoat. I never had any problems with it and saw jobs 4 years later and still looked like when it left my shop.

Hi Gunny, that looks like an amazing clear mate if it holds it's gloss that it has now then you will be on to a winner and lets hope you don't get any solvent pop seeing as you hammered that second coat down🤭I have a mate here in the UK that uses PPG and he's been using the one visit modifier in the basecoat but he told me that he still needs to flash the paint off between coats🤔🤷♂👍John UK

I was wondering about this too. Would it be a big mistake if the paint, hardener and thinner that should be mixed by volume are mixed by weight? Or would it not make much difference?

People really give ppg a bad name but I personally like it. I really do think it's a great system enviobase has. I think you are really going to like it when you get it all dialed in to your liking.

I also like it. I do wish they would develop something different to help flash the base quicker in high humidity.

@refinishtechnology2529 i think the other companies are selling this 1 and a half coat bs to shops thinking they are saving money. I only have experience with ppg and glassruit so don't take these comments as I know everything. My experience with glassruit was absolutely terrible. We sprayed a vehicle and let it sit over lunch and an hour later the base was still wet. I was taught to hammer it on and then a lighter coat right after. It was sooooo wet it took forever to dry over an hour. If there was a dirt nib we had to basically start over. 1 car took 5 hours and it was still messed up when I was with the rep. We used so much material with the 50x clear wet bed and super thick base. With ppg we pushed cars out the door so fast. We could do lighter coats of paint faster and we had a system down. Yes we had more lighter coats of paint but it actually took way less time than these 1 and a half coat systems they tell the owner up front about that will save them soooo much time. Personally it's all bs. We used so much material and so much time with the 1 and half system it wasn't worth it to me. Some cars I had to put way more than that on it to match. Just an opinion. My experience is limited. Ppg has to lay off because your companies are supporting German companies to save money or that's what they are told. When your company drops an American brand just remember you just put an American family on the street so they think they can save a dollar.
