I live in a rural part of southwest Va in the States, I came upon your channel due to my love of guns; you asked on one of your videos about wearing a tie to respect the birds, or the hunt so to speak! In my opinion, I love the tradition you have vs what we don’t have here in America! Keep hold of your traditions, cling to them, because at the end of the day, it’s all we have! I absolutely love your passion for fine guns, cheap or expensive, and I feel it every time I watch your videos! I don’t have a Longhorn, but I can dream, and still find enjoyment in my first shotgun, the Winchester Ranger 120, I think you own one as well! Keep doing what you do, with humor, respect, and passion, your doing a great job, and it’s appreciated!

This sort of shooting needs to be put out there more, so thanks for posting this! It is about what it really should be about: having a good time with your mates out in the country, and putting good sustainable meat on the table.

No joke, i absolutely loved watching that. Not only because i actually think i would be able to afford to go on a shoot like this, but because it seemed a bit more down to earth. I love seeing the big shoots. But for someone like myself they are more aspirational rather than this type of shoot that seems totally attainable. Top marks!

The sudden urge to buy a 20bore has come over me. Had a few Mayes that shoot game with a 20 rather than a 12 "game gun" they've said they are more fun and feel more complete. Watching this proves them right!

Until Covid came along I used to drive up once a year from Devon to Rutland for a day on a friend's hobby shoot. Often I didn't shoot anything; once I never even fired a shot. But it was always good fun and good company. And when I did shoot something it was all the more satisfying.

I've shot on some of the great great estates on some reasonably big days and some amazing birds and ground, but a small bore, small bag day with great guys and girls are the second best you'll get, walked up on the same small estate at the end of the season, with your dog and game bag make the finale to the season. keep up the great content guys, on all your channels, your are the best ambassadors we could wish for.

So glad you're promoting small enjoyable days guys. It's getting back generally to where things used to be, good for nature, sustainable, and more importantly acceptable to the general public. Great stuff👍

As long as it's with people you like, it will always be special regardless of the size of the shoot. Wish I could have been there to "test out" the CF Liversidge 20 bore hammer gun. That way Ryan M. might have had some company. 😂 Well hopefully not. I noticed Ryan L. interviews about as well as I do. Maybe a few drinks would liven him up. 🙈 [Insert picture of Jonny and Royan on the patio at the Belle and Dragon]. Looked like a great time. Smaller shoot days are definitely underrated. With the end of the season coming up soon, I hope you all get another day or two out.

Went out this morning with my dad and walked up ducks along a stream. He was using a 28 bore loaded with bismuth 5s, and I used my 20 bore sided by side with steel 3s. He shot a mallard drake going away at thirty yards and it crumpled when he pulled the trigger. I knocked down a left to right crosser at an honest sixty yards. Small bores are by no means slouches, and they are fun!

MAN! What a great day afield. My pal's made great sport of me for taking up the 410 some years back. A gang of us from work went on a Asian collared dove shoot on a state lease. At the end of the day I had six rounds left and a full bag {15}. And a hole lot less less talk about my "kid gun". The 410 round is so much better today. I shoot the Federal Game Shock at 1340 fps and 11/16 oz of #7.5. Good shooting keep stacking them up.

Good watch.Enjoyable days for sure with the caveat small bores on shootable driven birds not for me.If you had done as much picking up as I have the reasoning would be apparent.The problem at this end of the scale is distance because failure to resist having a go at a better bird with a small bore never designed to shoot driven gamebirds is where it falls short too often.
@tgsoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Understanding the limitations of the equipment is very much more important, just like Shooting steel in a 12 or standing under a drive where some are out of range even for the big bombshell.
@guybennett32432 жыл бұрын
Couldn’t agree with yours and Ant’s sentiments more. There are far too many people out there who have an inflated opinion of their own abilities to kill a bird cleanly. Unfortunately, born out of my own picking up experiences on days which are small bore oriented, by and large the same people don’t have the knowledge to understand the limitations of said calibres, resulting in considerably higher than average wounding. We should never lose sight of the fact that our first intention should be to achieve a clean kill and to reduce the possibility of wounding.
@stonefly5142 жыл бұрын
Most birds are pricked by 12 bore shooters, because guess what ?.....most people who shoot use 12 gauge!

Regarding your comment at 2:20, the problem is that no shoots want to offer a small bag anymore - they've all prioritised 200+ shoots at high prices.
