I got so lucky. Wanted a Blue Yeti to start voiceover and found a woman on OfferUp who barely used hers. When we met up she just let me have it for free. I made a diy soundproof box and it only costs about $20 total. I'd call that a win considering if I book a voiceover gig my overhead was barely a factor.

Great review! This is what I was looking for. Thanks! BTW, micro USB is not an upgrade for me. Mini USB is more sturdy as a socket/plug and accepts thicker wires. Also feature-wise it's the same as micro USB.
@NathComH Жыл бұрын
To be honest, I've never in my life seen a cord break so much as the mini USBs on the Blue Yeti, and I've been around using USB cords in all sorts of devices. Creators complain all the time about this, because due to it being chonky and to the downward position it needs to stay plugged, the tip bends much more than a thinner and maleable cord would in the same position. I broke around 3 of those myself just moving the mic forward or backward on the original stand, imagine people who move them a lot. Or maybe I'm the Hulk, that's also possible.

I have the nano tho😂, should i upgrade to a big blue yeti, or stay with my nano?, i mean i adjusted the mic a ton to make it sound good and honestly i don't feel bad about the result (the only problem is that my micro USB cable is dying) but i still like it. But idk, should i upgrade and even more knowing that theres a lot of mics like the SM7B or a quadcast?

To me, they all sound about the same. It seems to me that your choice comes down to how many fancy features versus your budget. I’m about to get started in voice overs and podcasting, and I found a brand new Blue Yeti Nano on sale for about 80 bucks. Sounds like I made a pretty good choice.

It depends what you were listening with. Computer speakers or cheap headphones might not show a difference. Listening on Bang and Olufsen headphones, there's a very clear difference between the first two and the X. The X is brighter and clearer.

Great video! These are all good mics. I found that the Nano sounded slightly better than the classic yeti and the X. I like them all. The Nano is perfect for someone who is looking for a smaller mic for the desk and to travel with. It's too bad the X costs more than the original because I think the indicators would help beginners getting used to having a mic. My favorite feature is the mute button being standard on all three. Nobody wants to look into software to mute a mic.

Great job with the video, mate! Really good job at making all the settings and characteristics of the mics simple and easy to understand. Maybe this is a bit late but I just wanted to add that you might have gotten the setting ‘cardioid’ mixed up with something else. Either that or I misunderstood your pronunciation. That’s all though, great job with everything else.

@Kr1stofferson2 жыл бұрын
it depends for what you plan to use the microphone, there are indeed better and much better microphones than the Blue Yeti original or X, but you have to consider also what you would need other than just the microphone, to record correctly using a different solution. The good part of the blue Yeti is that is a all around microphone with which you can do whatever you wish without spending a fortune or having a professional recording studio. You might find that most "better" microphones than the blue yeti only have a cardioid pattern, which is good if you use the microphone only for the purpose of talking into it, but if you want to record your musical instrument, just to make an example, you might need to buy a second microphone with different characteristics.

Yeti original sounds best among these, sounds natural. I have the Yeti original and also had the Nano. But, of all the USB mics I like Audio Technica AT2020USB+ the most--very natural sounding and it's built like military grade (and didn't want any of their later "upgraded" iterations; the USB connection is old school and it's 16-bit but still sounds the best). Also, I had Elgato Wave 3 (white one), which looked good but sounded rumbly/robotic--very not natural sounding. I found that the 16-bit vs 24-bit is like number of megapixels on camera--higher doesn't necessarily mean better. Thanks for the review.

Why does the yeti x sound crisper than the shure sm7b lol
@serrael-182 Жыл бұрын
Because its not a dynamic mic but a condensor. They both have pro and cons but normaly you take a dynamic for live perfomances (cuz its less sensitive) and a condensor for studio singing. The shure sm7b has a full bodom thats why many like it (and it looks great) but is less detailed/crisp at the highs. So its pleasent to listen to during long podcasts i guess.

Personally I would go with the Yeti pro for the hardware features built into the mic itself over the Rode. Both are great sounding mics so when it comes to sound quality they would be an equal match

@@Nicktechnoo Okay, I see. I would like to ask you one more question as the Shure Mv7 also caught my eye. Is it worth buying when used via USB or is it worth investing only when used via XLR? Is it worth buying, or would a cheaper XLR microphone be better?
@Nicktechnoo3 жыл бұрын
@@adison2117 it all comes down to your budget. Buying a USB mic only involves the mic and your PC. If you want to go with an XLR mic you now need a decent XLR cable, a mic stand, and an audio interface that can convert the XLR signal to USB. You can get some decent bundle options for around $100 through Amazon but the audio quality from those mics compared to lets say the Rode or Blue Yeti Pro USB mics is no contest. The USB mics would sound better. However if you wouldn’t mind spending around $499 for a decent XLR mic, a decent audio interface, and a stand then I would clearly say to go the XLR route for the best possible sound quality
