@havarahel Hope you don't mind me replying! You can also sit in straddle on the floor, and place your hands flat in front of you, at least level with your knees. Now lift your feet off the floor and bob them up and down. Start with just a few reps and increase it as you get better. Placing your hands further forwards will increase difficulty and work your hip flexors harder!

@mariec83 I like that. Thats a classic gymnastics hip flexor exercise. If your athlete has a hard time getting their legs to full range in that position they can do one leg at a time, use their hand to help lift and then hold to get a larger range of motion controlled...then isolate (bob). Or use a teammate and have the teammate help lift both legs and then the athlete hold to get the end range motion. It's all about full motion...That's a great one, esp for straddle jumps & glide on bars.

@havarahel If your a gymnast see the previous two suggestions. The key is full motion and engage abs so not using the back to lift the legs:) GOOD LUCK

@katakanadian I LOVE IT!!!! Great idea. You could start seated like this exercise with the leg straight and then work up to standing against the wall, eventually standing unsupported and then to standing on the beam for high kicks, etc. Using the hands to get to end range they'll get to full range. LOVE IT:)

There is one problem with this... My hips cramp up every single time I do it.. Is there anyway to change that?

This should also be done with a straight leg because many gymnasts aren't too bad bent but have very poor range when they have to lift straight.

If you eat bananas which have potassium it helps alot.
