A quick Fly around My Ham Tower by James G0SEC

A quick mention of my modification on my W2IHY 8 band EQ and my W2IHY Iplus microphone to radio isolator switch and then I take off from my back garden on my quad copter to see what it looks like from above my ham tower.
This was my first attempt so hope you enjoy it.

My shack was a bit like yours until I was bullied out of the hobby. I left the local radio club as club secretary and at some point I plan to make a video about it. No more Ham radio for me and I wouldn't even consider turning on a CB radio now.

loving the shack james always like looking at your videos. you must have good neighbours and council to put up a tower mine complain of a inverted L antenna but they seem ok now. antennas look amazing and with gud results aswell. we have spoken on the radio before years ago 24/1/2014 and commended you on the quality of your audio. well donr with the videos. andy 2e0 rju derby/castle donington

Yes the electric winch is on the list of jobs to be done hopefully by end of the year, most likely just before the summer.

What a wonderful shack and great aerial shots. How did you ever get the antenna in that size garden? Was planning permission hard to get? Take care and stay cool.

Planning went straight through but it was a good 12 years ago now... been here a long time and have very good neighbours

The antenna tilts over and the top antennas i do when tilted over in its lowered position, there is a wide footpath behind me where i do the top antennas. The garden is 25x55 so it will tilt into the back garden but i have another 2m beam going under the top colinear soon. So there will be 4 antennas on the tower soon.

I watched your videos on the shack, also some from others, and my question is how do you (and would like to hear from others) do cable management? Also, when you need to work on things being able to pull the device out far enough to disconnect and reconnect the cables. I am using an old wooden school teachers type desk that is very heavy but I eventually put it on wheels so I can easily get behind it. When I first rewired things it looked good but even that now ended up looking like a rats nest. Any ideas and comments would be appreciated. 73-W8ITC

Its a force12 antenna that has been modified by myself. Its very good and no i don't contest, in fact hate contests myself as I just don't see the point of wasting my time with 59's and goodbye but ww are all different i guess.

How is the airflow in the PC cabinet? Consider making a little hole with dust filter so the fans can bring in air from the front

There is no back to the desk part where the pc case is and there is blowers that blow down from under the desk it is in fact quite cool in the cabinet

How are you able to use that tower with the new OFCOM regulations in place?

I've had the tower about 12 years now, planning permission was not a problem and I've lived here a long time. I think it depends where u live when it comes to planning permissions. But im fortunate to have excellent neighbours that are are great friends. It works extremely well.

The drone is a pro 3 mini 249 grams. I have my drone license. Many drones but my fav is my little pro 3 mini.
