The weird part is that I've been busier than a one armed coat hanger lately, despite all of the China virus freak out. Seems that people are spending more time at home and noticing all the stuff that needs to be done, at least that's my guess.

When you find a place for all your plastic containers, get some 1/4" plywood and make separate shelves for each one. Don't fall for that "stackable" because you will never want the one on the top. Been there.

I finished my shop walls with 7/16" osb, and stained it with minwax red mahogany. Nailer grids against the wall. The dark stain covers the black print on the other side. I laid 1/8" dark brown luan for the ceiling after putting stringers every 4'. Doesn't sag at all, and i have insulation bats sitting on top of it. It's nice and easy to move an 8x4 sheet to access anything large stored in my trusses. Really happy with everything.

I can say that I’m well satisfied with my Lincoln M P 210. When I needed a welder for dummies I bought it and used it to learn how to strike an arc. I’ve used it for several projects in the past few years. I’m no professional welder by any stretch but I can use what I have to burn metal that holds. It had the option of being able to be used on a 20amp 120 volt circuit as well making it extra portable to do light jobs where 220 isn’t available and where I really don’t want to tote a generator, like upstairs in an urban environment where you have done repairs in the past. Just a thought..... or two. Keep putting out record setting content handyman!

Get an everlast welder, I’ve abused mine for 3 years now and it’s been great. The most bang for your buck out of any welder. A friend who welds Professionally uses them and he’s very happy with it. He uses his daily for the last 4 and hasn’t had a problem.

I left this same post to one of your subs. The Starett Angle Finder... It’s an amazing tool, being able to transfer the angle of the cut directly to the miter saw. I got turned onto it by Richard @ Finish Carpenter TV. Richard goes into detail on separate videos with how to use both the Starett Angle Finder, as well as the bullnose measure and cut tool. If you haven’t seen his channel yet you should! He’s one of the best trim guys I’ve ever seen!! The tightest, tightest miter corners. He’ll show you how to caulk, miter baseboard, miter crown, understand spring angle and how to do the best cuts, including coping. I’ve learned a lot from him!

I haven't used either the miter guage or bull nose corner tool and have been a carpenter too long. I also have been trying to organize my garage. My wife asks why i need so many screws. Lol. I saw a video that a pocket knife had a spot for interchangeable jig saw blades. Thought that was genius. Just bought the 12 inch dewalt chainsaw for 100 bucks. I would recommend that for trimming shooting lanes. I just cut down about 10 trees and a back yard of down wood. I wish i had a wood stove in my garage. Just a gas one with the model number of 8. Love it but need to burn a lot of wood. Nice video. I was hoping to see the spring nail set. Lol

I have that welding machine and it’s been a really reliable and good machine. Your looking at $2200 - $2500 for that machine to do what you want. $1,500 for the machine, $250-$300 for the spool gun, and $500 for the tig components. You’ll also need to dismantle the machine to add in tig components but irs only about 30-45 mins to do...

Harbor Freight small part storage solutions: I like the little black wall mount boxes with the clear pullout compartments- like 1.99 apiece and they all interlock with each other both on the sides and top and bottom so you can make a compartment bank as large as you want or need. They're around 21 cubic inches and being clear, they're excellent for small stuff and random miscellany.

I grabbed a remote last year from the Christmas light section at HD and use it on my vacuum detailing cars. I can turn it off without running to the vacuum and wasting time. Put additional lights on your 3rd remote for an area you sometimes could use additional light. Old Folgers coffee cans are great for organizing. HA On a serious note, what about the cubbie style holders that are a little bigger organized on a pegboard wall so they are low enough to see what is in them. Or my mom (retired skilled trades electrician & machine repair) had these gray boxes with clear front with pull out trays that were clear so you could see what was inside. Always full of nuts, bolts, washers, wire nuts, etc. They could be hung or sat level on a workbench.

As I have found over the years, when I buy a “multifunction” machine, I always end up buying another machine for a single purpose. I just have converting my machines and end up just getting dedicated machines for portable mig, portable stick, shop mig, ect. The multifunction machines have a good idea but always seems to waste too much time and become a hassle for me when it’s time to change processes.

Like you, I used to take things apart to see how they work. Like you, I started at an early age. After college, I worked all my life in the marine industry as a marine designer. My handyman days started when I was laid off from work. I had to live so I started doing odd jobs , starting with friends and then referrals. I did this for 3 or so years and made enough to sustain my family. Like you, I have multi skills that include carpentry, electrical, plumbing. I never liked painting. I also have metalworking skills that began when I was very young. I remember when I was about 10 years old, for Christmas, I got a Delta drill press when other kids got sleds, baseball bats or Lionel trains. I was offered a used16" South Bend lathe, but couldn't get because we lived in an apartment. I finally did get an 11" lathe when I was in my 50's along with a vertical mill. I am now retired and 86, living the good life down here in Mississippi. I have always been interested in trains, so I now spend my time as a model railroader, something I didn't have time for as a working bread winner. I don't understand how today's youth cannot do the things we used to do as kids. For example, my son who takes after me came across an expensive bicycle that was sitting outside a house with the trash. Upon enquiring, he found that the bike had a flat tire and didn't know how to fix it, so my son took it home. He fixed the tire, tuned up the chain and shifter and it was back in perfect condition. He finally sold it for $300 as it was a high quality bike. That seems to be the norm these days. I always regarded myself as a handyman. You have heard, I'm sure the saying; "Jack of All Trades Master of None". That is a very general quote that I don't agree on. We can accomplish anything and do it well if we put our brains to work and figure out how to do it. I was told that automatic transmissions were too complicated for any one other than a trained mechanic could fix. I rebuilt an automatic transmission for my Toyota Corona, mk 2 automobile in 2 days and was back on the road. Transmission worked fine with no problems ever. All it takes is the will and a little brain power to do anything you want to do. I enjoyed watching your U tube series.

I bought that same welder a couple years ago. The computer screen feature was an option then. Even I have been able to figure it out, but my son does a better job welding! I felt like I paid plenty for it, 15-1600, but it does work well. I wonder what the problem is with the HF welders. They are cheaper!

That's one impressive beard. The Amish will be so envious when they see this! (sort of, maybe..)

I’ve had the opportunity to up the mp 210 for job. Works awesome never a complaint. The only one that top the mp 210 is the multimatic 220. Looked it up and the price point is a little higher but it really is an all in one machine. Just less equipment for us to carry on the job.

At one point I had 5-6 big HF bright neon tape measures that I got for free. Now I can only find one. Probably with laundered socks somewhere... 🤔

Do a French Cleat wall I have had them in the past and when I get another shop I will be doing that. There is a lot of information on KZbin about French Cleats and is well worth the research to see if it will be right for your shop and life.

Harbor Freight...the place to go for tools you only plan on using once or twice. As a former plater and current handyman, heat treated tools are the only way to go.

before you start reorganizing, get you a label maker, it'll be one day or night of tediousness but a lifetime going forward of ease on locating things.

For your workshop walls: A french cleat tool wall. Gets stuff off your tables, and gives a proper place for all your hand-held stuff.

I bought a bunch of the containers with the yellow movable dividers. I hate them because once a few washers or screws get under the divider you have to constantly fix the dividers. Just a hassle. If I had to do it again I would only get Fixed Space containers with varies size sections.

I got the omnipro 220 from harbor freight and I love it - had it for over a year and have put some serious miles on it without trouble.

I love that center drive. It's been a dream multitool for a while now. And for soldering irons my new favorite is the ts100 you can use it anywhere with a lipo battery and it's actually very vice and also cheap. That doesn't make sense but it's the go to iron for the fpv drone community and become the daily "driver" of Irons. And we solder a whole lot. Also has interchangeable tips with the heating element in the tips so easy to replace it.

I just spent 5 hours rewiring my entire tool trailer with a soldering iron. The factory wiring was all done with "crimp" style connectors. Great little welder. Look out for a rebate from Lincoln before you buy one. I got $450 off my TIG 200.
