Yes..agreed on the "old school" workers...not many got the big bucks that the wrestlers of today get....but it was a living and they seemed to "believe" in their craft too. Cheers

I saw the Sheik wrestle in person well over 100 times over a 15 year period. Bull Curry, Johnny Valentine, Haystacks Calhoun, Dick The Bruiser, Bruno Sammartino, Lou Thesz, Whipper Watson , Pampero Firpo, Mark Lewin, Dory and Terry Funk, Harley Race, Andre, Bruiser Brody, Kevin Sullivan and scores of others. It would be easier to list the guys he did NOT work with. Greatest heel ever, period. No one else comes close.

As a kid in the early 70's Big time wrestling was a mainstay in the Detroit area & the Sheik was the man!!

Early 70's watching the Shiek throw fire at Cobo Hall wrestling Johnny Valentine. Sat 3rd row & the Shiek scared the shit outta me more than anything. Real pro wrestling not just sports entertainment

I remember The Sheik coming into Maple Leaf Gardens side entrance in the 70's. When he got out of the cab like Al said all the people yelling and name calling were silent and parted like The Red Sea. He had that glare. Fun times.

Hey Joe...used to see Shiek in the 70s in Toronto and beyond as teen...MLG Shiek vs Abdullah the Butcher (w mgr abdullah farouk (the grand wizard) suspended high above the ring (dropping powder packet into the ring so shiek could 'blind' the butcher ----- saw shiek in 70s tv taping old hamilton arena..and shiek was pinned between two hockey nets ranting as he looked skyward as his mgr ranted promo power with host Lord Alfred Layton....remember Shiek in summer 74 in Brampton Arens..me and my three high school buds sitting ringside (10 bucks?) and cheerung on Shiek against Billy Red Lyons....right above us..about 7 mins in, after repeated gouge blind to Lyons head, all of us heard Shiek tell Lyons he was dropping the object..and he did..on cue...wooow. With billy red now gouging shiek into dq pulp. Gold. Tiger jeet singh and shiek at maple leaf gardens Indian fans goin nuts before full house. Huge nights Great times. If u can find it...get Shiek's book RED MEANS GREEN. Has everything..As this lebanese detroit car dealership bossman went nuts throughout upper midwest for many years.

Joseph Forest I had no idea, so I asked my father today. He said no on the auto dealerships. Funny you mention that because my father worked at a GM dealership in Michigan for 30+ years, so I thought maybe there was some kind of connection to that?

Farhat is a common Lebanese last name and there are (relative to elsewhere in the US) tons of Lebanese people in Michigan, certainly possible you have the wrong Ed (Edward is a very popular first name among Lebanese Christians as well) Farhat
