Naomi, when we played hopscotch in the late 60s and early 70s, we would take turns. Each person’s turn lasted until she made a mistake, and then the next person would start. When your next turn came around, you would start where you left off. The first person to finish would win. Your first round would be just to jump the pattern as you guys did. Then you would throw a small rock, so that it landed on square one and jump the pattern without landing on square one. The next time, you would throw the rock, so that it landed in square two and jump the pattern without landing on square two. You needed to complete the pattern with your final jump after the rock landed in square ten and you jumped the pattern without landing in square ten.
