I know this video says Geese are more of a watch dog, but I have seen gaurd geese stomp a fox to the grave.

We're raising a flock of 31 fowl in total. 3 goslings, 4 ducklings, 3 baby turkeys and the rest are chicks. We just moved them to their newly-built coop today. Gonna leave them there to get used to it for a couple of days, then release them during the day to their run. Theyve got access to food and water, but we have to put up more roosting bars. Im gonna put a small pool for the ducks on one side of the run, about 400sqft of space in the run. Its fenced in but not predator-proof right now. We're gonna put up wire fencing inside our metal horse fencing to make the area safe probably tomorrow. Eventually, we will release them to free-range during the day. Theyre all still young though and a few of the chicks have had their backs pecked since their brooder pen got too small. What should i watch out for as they get accustomed to their coop?

Good question, not sure, as I personally have not had one watch over a mixed flock. Let me see if I can find some anecdotes for you.

@@omuleanu I have a pair of geese to protect my duck flock. My guard geese are a must to scare off the fox and coons and even the owls. They try to scare off the UPS truck but that hasn't worked so well for them.

My wife is set on getting two geese for our 17 chickens the chickens roam the neighborhood the neighbors don’t mind the pic collecting I’m wondering if the noise from the geese is going to antagonize the neighbors to the point where the chickens won’t be welcome anymore! And I’ve heard that goose poop is 20 times chicken poop!

I have two female Toulouse geese and they just started laying they have their own box in the coop. One in particular has been pecking on my chickens and pulling out feathers. Even pecking the head of the other goose. Any solutions ideas? Should I sell the other one?

Hi there! There are 1 of 2 reasons this might be happening. 1, (which has happened with my flock) is that they're not getting enough nutrients. Diets that are low in protein, lack of salt, high in corn, or lack of animal protein are the main triggers for pecking. 2, is that their living conditions are too crowded. In order to expand their space territory, some strong geese will drive away weaker geese. The most common way is to peck each other with their beaks. I hope this helps!

@@sophiademark7393 thank you! The geese have two forms of feed, game bird feed, seed, and free range everyday. I homed one of the geese and kept the less aggressive one. Now she’s pecking on one chicken in particular. I think she’s going to have to go too. It’s all so weird. I’ve had two geese in my lifetime and I’ve never know them the peck at chickens or each other. Maybe a gander would have been a better choice. Or a single gosling instead of a pair.

I can't get my chickens to stop pecking and bullying my geese. The geese are too tame. Idk what I did wrong with them. They are still young but I am scared that they are defective as far as being too nice or willing to get bullied or they are a bit slow. Idk. It just sits there as little chickens peck it. And it doesn't do anything but go "Murr" as the bloody it up. Idk what to do.

Wow, that's a good long life. She was female? We had turkeys when I was a teenager. The tom loathed boys and men, but was a sweet baby to girls/ women. I have a mated pair of white Chinese geese now. They have such big personalities.
