I've just found this show and am binge watching series 3 and am heart broken over these two. Thanks for this. It's part of my healing journey as I grieve their tragic love. Long live Father Peter and Assumpta! Well, we know it's too late for that. You couldn't just call an electrician, Assumpta, oh no, not independent, feminist-fanatic woman-entrepreneur, Assumpta!!! Way to leave Father Clifford alone and homeless in the world.

@@reginapontes5672 It was on Britbox, a wonderful streaming service for British TV shows and movies. I'm not sure if it's still on there as they add and remove shows periodically.

Reminds me of my biological grandparents, on my birth mother’s side. He was a parish priest sent to America in 1915 from County Kerry, Ireland. She was the youngest daughter of immigrant parents, who settled in Central California, from Slovenia, Austria. My mother, the only child born in 1931 to this forbidden Roman Catholic couple. My grandmother died from early breast cancer leaving my mother an orphan at age 11. The tragic lives they all lived, looks a lot like this forbidden love as depicted in Ballykissangel. Yeah, they did. They faked her death, to avoid the scandal. He followed her to Dublin. She runs a bistro, he's a social worker. They have two kids. I will never accept her stupid avoidable death on that cold damp floor. They were beautiful amazing characters who deserved better plotting.
