Nicely done. I appreciate seeing the whole process, as you’ve shown. For people getting started, often it is the little things, like getting the proper collet into the collet nut, that are important to learn. I’m pretty new at this myself, but I’ve started to use the work surface as Z0, so that if you remove material from the top, you can still find proper Z after changing tools, etc. I would love to see a detailed walkthrough of a double-sided job, and how you can ensure you are getting X, Z, and Z set properly for the second operation.

Garath, GREAT job on the construction of this unit...And you attention to detail and explaining in such detail is Greatly appreciated...I have watched I believe for the most part all of these videos on the fabrication and assembly thru the electronics, however I seem to have not been able to find the video you made on connecting and have in operation the iPad talking to your software...Am I over looking it?

Hello Garath, nice CNC build and good to see you completed the project. For me the most interesting bit is the control aspect, the bit between the software and the actual CNC motion mechanics. There are many presenters for CNC builds and software, however not many delve into the Microcontrollers. It seems to me you have a talent for explaining and have sound knowledge of Microcontrollers. Will you be expanding your presentations with regard Microcontrollers in the future, e.g. STM32, ESP32, Arduinos etc? I hope you do as the Engineering of motion control is the important part of these types of project, please let me know and thanks for the good work. Jo

Nice work! Well explained, as always. I would love to see you compare Carveco to Vectric VcarvePro or Aspire. I am trying to understand their relative merits.

Hey man I had applied on your website for a lesson, I could use your help figuring out this RC I'm building

I understand you may not be a subject matter expert, but - how big is the difference between generating tool paths for such a project on Carveco and Fusion360 regarding the quality of the finished product? P.S. Cool video as always

From my experience so far the results are very similar. Gcode is gcode after all. However, Carveco makes working with complex models so much easier, so for that reason I personally prefer it. I will keep this question in mind as I do more work on Fusion 360, I may even make a video about it 👍🏻

Yes the machine will need some minor modifications before I can machine aluminium. Mostly just an air hose to get rid of chips, and a way to stop the chips flying everywhere!
