FreeCAD is a powerful and free CAD software package that is perfect for beginners. The user interface is intuitive and straightforward, making it easy for new users to start designing in 3D. My video series ‘FreeCAD For Beginners’ is one of the best FreeCAD tutorials for beginners you will find online. Very few FreeCAD training videos teach CAD the correct way, using parametric modelling. Regardless of my FreeCAD For Beginners series, this is just one of many resources available to beginners who want to get started with FreeCAD.
Not only is FreeCAD a great choice for beginners, it’s also a great option for those interested in 3D printing. FreeCAD has the ability to create 3D designs specifically optimized for 3D printing. Fusion 360 is a popular CAD software package, but with the recent changes to its license, many are looking for alternatives. If you’re looking for an alternative to Fusion 360 that is free, consider using FreeCAD. The FreeCAD vs Fusion 360 comparison is often in favour of FreeCAD due to its affordability and ease of use, making it a great alternative to Fusion 360.
This CAD beginner course is full of CAD Beginner tutorials which are great resources to learn the basics. If you’re looking for beginner friendly CAD software, FreeCAD is a great option. With its intuitive user interface and wide range of tutorials, FreeCAD is the perfect choice for CAD beginner.
To conclusion, if you’re looking for a free CAD software package, whether than be for 3D printing or simply for designing your own models, consider FreeCAD 0.20 in 2023. So many people are making the switch from Fusion 360 to FreeCAD, and whether you're just starting out as a CAD beginner or looking for a Fusion 360 alternatives free, FreeCAD is the way to go.
I believe this video is the best FreeCAD beginner guide on KZbin. It is completely free of charge and covers all the basics, I hope you appreciate it.

I made this series for the makers and hobbyists out there. When Autodesk recently announced their personal license changes for Fusion 360, they let down a lot of people. But not to worry because there are other options out there, and one of them FreeCAD. I believe that this video is the best FreeCAD beginner guide on KZbin, it covers all the basics and teaches sketching the proper way. - Gareth

Excellent video! Great job especially on explaining constraints. One useful feature that’s good to highlight for complete beginners is a shortcut to center the workspace view back on the part. It’s useful if they pan too far out of frame and lose their view. For instance I can double click the scroll wheel in fusion 360 if the model has gone out of frame, and it will recenter my view on the model automatically.

Thanks for the great tutorial. I'm 70 years old and you can't imagine how many CAD tutorials I've watched and was still confused. Now that I'm 3D printing I need something better than Tinkercad. I've used more CAD programs than I know as a former aerospace hardware engineer . Most were CAE electronic design (View Logic, Orcad etc.) but I used others as well, such as AutoCad, Solid Works etc. Solid Works was the last that I used - and that was quite a while ago. (7 years at least - and that was for personal use) You got me right back ion the horse here. Great presentation, no wasted time and a calm, pleasant and understandable delivery. Very, very well done sir.

At 603k views, I do not think YOU have need for a thank you from me as much as I have a need to say "thank you" to you. I have spent the past couple hours getting thru your 22 minute vid, repeating each step, playing with the controls as we went. This is how I learn best, by doing. I have tried to learn CAD packages in the past, always failing. While I still clearly have a very long way to go, I think I am "over the hump" now. While I may well be a slow learner, I found playing the vid at 75% speed made it much more digestible. Thank you again.😄

Amazing tutorial for beginners, I have followed along thru the first two videos in the series so far and it has been awesome. My only thing to note for other people following along is at 16:30 you said it was asking for a diameter when in fact you had selected the radius tool rather than the diameter version. This is just something for people to take note of because if we set our diameter at half of what your is it will come out looking a bit different and some people may not catch why that happened. Otherwise, great job and thank you for making a great tutorial.

So far, I think this is the best freecad explanation delivery after a week of pecking through freecad videos for the last week. He explains why he is doing everything and verbally, in clear English, is saying what he is doing. This way as versions change, the video will hold up and remain useful for others. I think that a really good freecad KZbin channel should put out 2 minute tutorials that stick to doing one thing. None of the 40 minute crap, which is 38 minutes of irrelevant information to 99 of 100 people trying to learn 100 different things. Even though I am running into a dialog that I can't get past by duplicating his actions, I still can see what he is doing. The other problem with freecad videos is that they don't more slowly focus on the menu items and tools that they click on. I must watch the series of menu click 10 times over a half speed before I can see what they are clicking on. The problem is compounded by customized toolbars and version changes. Obviously, Each toolbar click and menu click should be screen shot and a web page should be made explaining each 2 minute video. So, we could either or both watch the video and read the webpage. This would up the view count and Google index. This is my beginners perspective.

You can avoid needing to set the centre dimensions instead by using a centre constraint on the vertical/horizontal origin lines, this way if you resize the part rectangle it remains centred with respect to it's size. You also never need to press "Update" in your sketches if you have "auto update" checked (this is the default).

New Subscriber here. I'm really new to Freecad and 3D printing. I've watched dozens of videos on how to use freecad, and usually left feeling confused. Your's however, I understood and I feel like I have the basics to start now. Your explanation was clear, concise and easily understood. Looking forward to watching more of your tutorials! THANK YOU!

I think FreeCAD is extremely solid and impressive, which is extreme praise, because it's almost impossible to get me to say that any software is good.

I really liked your focus on constraints. A lot of other videos skipped this part but they don't really know the importance of them!

It's been several years since I did any CAD work. This was a wonderfully short tutorial that goes over the essentials to make a part. This was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you so much for posting this video.

Thanks for making these - you are making my transition from an older 2d cad alot easier. Much appreciate your style as well with no BS to sit through before you start the tutorial (that is nicely paced).

Having come from Solidworks, "Yes" a lot of the info and tools are similar if not the same. It's the subtle differences in how to open a new file properly, the workbenches, comparable names for tools, etc....that I find most helpful. Thanks for the great tutorial, highly recommend this video to all, even old CAD jockeys like me. Thumbs Up!
