I've used latex/rubber gloves my entire mechanical career. Why? Because when I went to MMI, way back in 1993, I had an instructor who was diagnosed with cancer due to the chemicals that seeped through his skin over the years. Ever since then I made it a part of my routine. (Not trying to be a downer, just advising the younger crowd). Great videos. I watch all of them. Keep em coming!

Latex gloves also give way better dexterity than "mechanics" gloves. I also think they grip much better. I always get the 7 or 9 mil thickness.

You can always go to the main HD website > Owners > Maintain Your Bike > Service Recall and enter you VIN number to pull up any recalls for that specific bike. John, thanks for taking the time to make an unbiased video for us owners who aren't the most mechanically inclined & concerned about the details when we get a recall notice. HD corp should be paying you for your service to the community.

John, Feel your Pain with the Weather. Left the house this morning it was 42F. Now its 39F. And Snow -13" changing to Rain tomorrow into Friday. Finally got my 1200 out for a quick 10 mile ride today. Saturday I changed the Engine oil and Filter (Bosch 3330), Primary Fluid and changed the Derby cover. Just broke over 3k miles. Summer was mostly a Rain Out. I use a KD Quick Draw. Its a Pneumatic Brake Bleeder for cars. Just dial the air pressure to 40 psi. Found it works good for Flushing. However, I always Manual Bleed it afterwards for Safety.

I wish there was a Harley dealership like yours here. My local dealer is always swamped. The only way to get work done the day you drop it off. Is go there at like 7am on Saturday even though it doesn’t open till 9 and get a good spot on line. I’m not sure how much more time I have left on my service package but once that’s up I’ll just work on the bike myself because I don’t like paying for labor. I usually don’t even buy those incentives but free maintenance for a period of time with how much I ride. It’s cheaper than doing the work myself. And one less headache since I work on my cars all the time.

hey John, Im in the UK and no one has a clue about what's happening on this cvo clutch recall. Thelatest story is that Lucas was asked to produce a new seal for the 2ndary cylinder which turned out to be defective too. Harley sent them all back and Lucas have no gone into receivership. We've got massive waiting lists now for repair and apparently no replacement seals. Are the seals you're getting working correctly? Oh by the way you're the only guy who's even made an attempt to explain properly what the problem is and the fix. Great job, and a big English high 5 for the explanation. Keep it comming mate.

My recall service turned up another problem with the actuator that Harley wasn't aware of. It was leaking at the bleeder screw. It sucked enough air to keep it from disengaging the clutch. Ended up getting the 5th revision of the whole actuator that 2019 bikes use.

He didn’t notice at that time but as whether gets really really cold he is having a trouble to shift gear from 1st-2nd only when is cold and problem goes away after warmed up. He said problem occurred prior to recent clutch recall campaign, local dealer performed the recall and he was told they are not been able to replicate the symptom. I'm still pissed about H-D declaring the front master cylinder as 'obsolete' for my '13 DWG. Well.. it's not so much _that_ as it is the replacement part being backordered for a month and being unable to order the old part because "it's obsolete". Effectively, they decided I didn't need my primary mode of transportation for a month. Thanks MoCo! The good news is that it's just the plunger not returning correctly and my brake lights stay on unless I manually push the lever back. But come one, man! Don't STOP shipping a part if you can't supply the new one.

John need help with my 16' Street Glide Special. My clutch engagement is all the way at the end off the lever. when it's cold it's not bad but when the bike warms up it is literally all the way at the end like the fluid is expanding. Barely touch the lever and it disengages the clutch. Almost feels like it's slipping when your shift quick. I changed fluid. Vaccum bled. Syringe bled nothing has helped. Tonight I pumped clutched cracked bleeder loose, purged the fluid and my master cylinder took 2-3 minutes to refill itself with fluid? (Floppy lever)Do you have any experience with this issue? Do I need to replace master cylinder? Bike is new to me and it sat for a year. Clutch fluid was black when I changed it. Something just isn't right. Thanks for any response.

Posted this on the previous clutch recall video as well. The gf & I both have 2014 Street Glide Specials. Both have had the recall BUT...... When her's sits for about a week the clutch master loses "prime". Pull the lever in 5 or 6 times and it gets firm lever pressure again. It's been bled/fluid changed 4 times this year and still the same issue. I'm thinking of pulling my clutch master off and swapping it to her bike to see if that's the issue but it seems more like possibly the introduction of air as you state thru the secondary clutch actuator. I don't see any leaking fluid and the fluid level doesn't drop. Any thoughts ?

Off topic... but, could you do a video on the causes for decel wobble on touring (specifically RG) models? Im sure you have opinions/experience with this issue. And harley dealerships are always trying to dodge the issue! I am confident that you are not one of those techs that would return a bike to a customer with a problem not resolved! This question comes from my own issues with my 16' RGS got a wobble, gave it to the dealership to be fixed under warranty. They checked the steering neck barring and gave it back blaming my t bars for the wobble...i got home. Found that A) front wheel threw a couple weights and was out of balance B) at 11k miles and 3 years, the fork oil allows for excessive dive in the front end not keeping the weight distributed correctly when i decel, also contributing. Maybe yhis would be a good topic for your q&a video? Or possibly a video on its own. Sorry for the length, but i know this is a common issue in road glides especially and people are always looking for answers for it, and most dealerships wont FIX the problem, only offer a excuse about why its happening and senf you on your way. THANKS! Also, bee a subscriber for about a year now. Thank you for what your doing!

Harley completed the rebuild kit when my bike just had 6000 miles on it. 2018 road glide. I now have 28,000 miles on it and the rebuild seals failed. Should the recall rebuild lasted longer than 28,000 miles? Proper maintenance has been completed up to this date when the seal failed.

I have a 2016 road glide special. What do you think would be the cause of the clutch not disengaging? This just started happening yesterday on a ride. All of a sudden i was having to kick the shifter down and up really hard. Then at a stop it was hard to get into neutral and had to hold the front brake to keep the bike from shooting forward. Thanks in advance! Any help is greatly appreciated! The bike has 49k on it.

Wouldn't it be a kick in the pants if this recall miraculously fixed the transmission fluid migration issue too?! I did a part by part comparison between the 2016 and 2017 transmissions and I found the actuator is a new part number for 2017. Just about everything else (gears, shafts, bearings, covers, etc) are the same between 2016 and 2017!
