Re: crossfeed, stuff that is mixed nowadays is mixed with headphones in mind and has some crossfeed mixed in. So I don’t feel the need to use it with most newer stuff (say, post 1995) but with some older stuff it sounds totally weird without it, especially when they do stereo pans. The first Black Sabbath album for example is unlistenable on headphones to me without crossfeed

$4500 headphone on $200 Amp+DAC - come on Metal, yes, your system is holding you back, let me and everyone answer that for you. We value your opinions, so please consider a meaningful upgrade. It's comical.

I was doing dishes and forgot that they were talking about keyboard switches. When Resolve mentioned "lubing up" I thought he meant IEM tips and I was going "Really, Andrew?"

I love the Qudelix and its PEQ and for some headphones also the AutoEQ, with this part I also like to use its crossfeed (35), The little 5K also easily drives my Fostex TH610.

I have said this before in another section but I can never really settle one sound profile most of the time. I get bored pretty easily so I don’t know if I can settle on an EQ profile. Usually bouncing between A V shape sound to flat or wide sound stage to close and intimate. Keeping things interesting as part of the hobby so I can be hard for me to settle on anything. Although I do tend to lean towards flatter sound profile just so I don’t fatigue in my ear in any particular frequency.

I have a feeling that in a decade we're gonna have EQ profiles for individual albums.

I had a Focal Elex and Clear that both clipped (mechanical clipping) at low volume (75db) out of all my very low impedance Solid State amplifiers. The only fault here lies with Focal. Poor design and QC on their drivers. My Focal Stellia had no such problem out of any amp at any volume.

How many pairs of cans do these guys own? The reason for asking is this. Every time you guys review a pair of end game cans you always comment how you could never own them. Beyond you means. There is always a way.

I find it more interesting to "hear everything" than try to own it. Just no need to spend that much to be very happy so I have still stuck to my 2F

@@metal571 # years back I bought a pair of Beyerdynamic T1 with a Hegel 12 dac with headphone jack. Living in the Mountains in the middle of nowhere didn’t have much to go on except reviews. Bad mistake, garbage , and i don’t know which one or if there both garbage. Can’t listen to them. So here’s a question. Pretend your a 70 year old fart like myself, on fixed income, what would you buy? My home system that I’ve had for the last 10 years consist of a Devialet 250, Hyperion 968, wired up with Nordost Valhalla cables. All used equipment. What would you live with , headphones, if you couldn’t buy anymore toys?

@@metal571 After leaving the 2F and then coming back to them, I gotta say they are still one of the better all around HPs I have heard. They do NEED EQ though. Never fatiguing, just enough detail. To me they, like the 6XX/HD650, are a HP that everyone should own/try for a reference.

@@04yellowjacket Thanks for your insight. Let’s say you have more $ on hand. I’ve managed to save up to $6,ooo Canadian which is just under $5,000 American.Would you still or be tempted for a higher end product? Keep in mind that a better source may be required.

Heard these in a store and loved them so much I ordered a pair. I’m saving opening them until Xmas day but now I’m worried about the mentioned QC issues. I don’t have any equipment to measure these but would asking Audeze for the FR for my unit shed any light?
@TheHEADPHONEShow
@TheHEADPHONEShow 2 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's QC necessarily, this type of thing happens a lot with headphones that have large pads. If anything though I do wish manufacturers would include industry standard measurements for high end headphones, but maybe there are other reasons they don't do that, I'm not sure. In any case, in my view the different measured results are still closer than other examples I've seen, and it just means you have to use your ears when doing EQ. Plus, if you love the sound, that's all that matters.

@@TheHEADPHONEShow Thank you. Would the FR Graph that Audeze can provide for each unit help to understand the similarities / differences between the unit that both you and Metal received?

This was a great talk, always good to see Metal571 coming back. I'm just curious about the 650 vs 6XX thing at the beginning, is there really is an audible difference? I know Resolve said the treble, but it isn't clear to me if that means that the 650 is darker sounding than the 6XX.

We would need an example of both side by side with the same newest pads which isn't easy without just buying them both new again

Recently upgraded my phones from Senn HD660S to Audeze LC4z. I auditioned Senn HD 800s, Focal, Meze and LCD3. At no stage did I consider anything like you guys discuss. My selection was based entirely on how they suited my ears for a number of reference tracks that I know intimately. Also upgraded to Nordost Blue Heaven cable. All I know about is music and how I like it. Your chat is interesting but meaningless to me, sorry.

Sounds like exactly how individuals should approach their buying decisions, but these two are reviewers who aim to say something that people can use to build an ides of gear when they can't test it properly themselves. Personal preferences are something no one has much to add to by definition.

It is pointless to listen to us reviewers if you have the ability to demo your headphones in person and base your decision on that. This trumps ALL reviews because you then will know for sure what you are getting.
