10 years of focus will do wonders for one's life. I think people who grew up with limited beliefs project that mindset into whatever situation there in. At the end of the day, we are the architects of our success and the makers of our misery. Everybody has a choice. Me personally, I love this job and the path that I'm on.

Recent CDL holder here, I’m someone who came from the dumps that lived paycheck to paycheck, sometimes due to my own bad financial decisions but I was raised in what most people would call poverty. I didn’t get to realize that term until I’ve met people around my city that referred to that part of town I lived in. I got my CDL this November and I’m more than grateful for the future opportunity that it’ll provide me. I love it but there will be good days and some bad days. It all depends on your attitude on both occasions. I don’t have enough experience to say how trucking really is but so far I’m doing better than most of my peers.

Great video bud. I have been an automotive tech for 14 years and am looking to get my CDL next year for a change and while money involves part of this decision as I am wanting to better support my future family, i have always admired trucks growing up and have loved to travel and see different places. It is nice to hear an honest perspective on the trucking industry. I know I’m not going into this to come out making bank to start and my partner understands this as well it is more about the opportunity and doing something I have wanted to do. I witness this everyday in my field, people with the wrong attitudes before even clocking in and they are miserable because of it. And they don’t like it when I tell them exactly those words. Applies to life overall.. if you wake up saying today is going to be terrible, you will never prove yourself wrong.

Calling a spade a spade, too many people are focused on the dollar signs the trucking industry can produce. The problem, like in a lot of industries it seems, is that not a lot of people are willing/built to put in the real work to get it. There are those that are naive and don't know any better. Then there are those who are just chasing the instant gratification not realizing to get to where we are currently, a lot of sacrifices, discipline, etc went into making it this way. Just because life is comfortable now doesn't mean it's easy.

This is what I did. I went OTR(company). After a year got a truck and went Owner/Op with my own numbers. Did that for 2 years while living in truck and keeping my expenses to a minimum. I invested 75% of my money (about 150k) into stocks and ETFs. Now the profits and dividends that I make from those stocks and ETFs pay for all my trucking expenses (maintenance, insurance, Ifta). Havent done my taxes yet but im gonna net about 180k this year and I was home every 2-3 days and took a whole week off every month. And I was able to take the entire month of december off. This next year Im gonna go hard again and try to net 250k. Im gonna keep investing in the stock market and not buy house til I can pay for it cash. Trucking can still be a gateway to success. Depends on ur game plan. 😎

Even if you're unable to save a 100% because obviously you need to buy food laundry detergent all that stuff, maybe once in a while grab a hotel room. Maybe, but let's just see food in the basic necessities, even if you saved seven hundred dollars a week for ten years you would have saved $364,000 dollars cash. And if you were smart after your second year of trucking and you have 2 years of W2s you could use that money, you saved and put as a down payment on a house rent that house out and then at the end of 10 years, not only would you have over 250,000 cash. In the bank, but whatever equity you acquired in that home. Somebody else would be paying the mortgage because you would rent it out. And you would have equity, built up in that house, so many positive things about living out of your truck.

I did the same thing with a cheap PC computer in a room with no toilet, but my thing was graphics etc. It didn't turn out like I planned, but like the Buddhist thing being about the journey not the destination (forgive me I have have that wrong), it worked out well. 10 years with all this technology going on right now? AI is REALLY changing the game right now, all platitudes. Everything from developers to b-roll camera production crews are quickly going "dodo". So 10 years?...I don't know.
