WORTH THE READ!! All this does is scan codes, to give people an idea of what system is faulty in a car. Any professional mechanic does not just only scan codes to diagnose a problem. They use the codes to narrow down where they need to test the car. Then they perform the actual diagnosis, which involves using a shop labscope, and manual labor testing on various areas of the vehicle dependent on the code(s). People hear the word "diagnostic" and they think a tool like this which is only a D.T.C. (aka, dummy lights) scanner will tell them exactly what to do and how to fix it. If you know how perform those diagnosis tests and you want something relatively cheap to scan codes preliminary to the actual diagnosis tests. Then this is what someone could buy. If you think this product will tell you what to fix or replace, and if thats what want, then don't waste money on this. Just go to Autozone and have them scan it so you can know what code it is. Also, don't take the associates/workers word on what to replace because they just want to sell you parts. Have someone do the diagnosis or if you know what to test then do it yourself. About 90% of time a D.T.C. (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) will not tell you what to replace or what to fix. How do I know, my father is an actual ASE Certified Automotive Technician and Mechanic and has been teaching me extensively about cars. Just trying to inform and tell the truth. If anything this tool can help you to know if your mechanic is lying to you about your DTC's. Quick tip also, is actual professional shop labscopes and scanners which are thousands of dollars or more btw, can pull out more codes and more accurately than "cheap" scanners. I'm not sure if this product is accurate or not. I have seen this multiple times at my fathers automotive shop. For example: someone comes in with a print out from AutoZone of codes or from a cheap scanner, and we compare that read out to an actual high dollar scanner. Sometimes the codes on the high dollar scanner are more accurate and can pick up more or even different codes than the little cheapie scanner. And professional level auto shops PAY the thousands of dollars on a shop labscope/scanner to make sure they are accurate. So bottom line, find an honest repair shop/mechanic that can actually explain to you in lamens terms the problems your vehicle has, and why it relates to your DTC's. Chances are, that mechanic/shop is honest if they can do that. This FIXD Tool is just a scanner. You still need someone to properly DIAGNOSE your issue to isolate the actual faulty part or problem. Anyone that says this tool does diagnosis, is either ignorant, or is using it as a marketing tactic. Ex: If you get a code like P0303 = cylinder 3 misfire. Watch a couple fix videos on KZbin where they changed the ignition coil, and spark plug. Then you go buy those parts and do the same, doesn't guarantee that the problem will be fixed. Cause if it didn't fix it then you just wasted money on those parts, all because you didn't want to pay for a professional diagnosis. Which could indicate something else running cylinder 3 could cause a misfire. Hope they don't take my comment down cuz its exposing the truth lol😂

I have the FixD code scanner. For $20 it reads the codes (if you have any) fast. But you're exactly right. That's ALL it does. You may have an O2 sensor code. The WORST thing to do is go out and get that replaced. There are many reasons the O2 sensor could be throwing a bad code. Vacuum leak on the intake, Throttle Body malfunctions, Long and Short term fuel trims off, etc. This scanner doesn't tell you that. I find it handy to narrow down the problem. Then it's up to me to figure out why it's throwing that code by looking at the common issues that could cause it. They have good diagnostic scanners out there now that are not too expensive and WILL diagnose the problem. I plan on getting one as I do most of my own work. But for the money and the average person who has a check engine light on it's worth the $20 to find out why. Thanks for the honest review.

These devices are so helpful. We can have a peace of mind knowing what the car problem is. Mechanics Diagnostic test can cost around 100 bucks and they don’t show you the results. They just tell you, u need a new part that might cost you 500 bucks and might be the wrong fixed. I need one of these devices

@@puertoricanboy100 because it's the same as the other standard obd2 code readers out there. Nothing special. It doesn't tell you what's wrong with the car. If there are broken wires or corrosion in a harness, how could it possibly estimate the cost of repairing that? You'd have to know where it is...It's bull...
