Your actually not suppose to turn the engine on but to leave it at accessories to retrieve error codes, the engine only needs to be on if you need to retrieve live data. Peace

If u are just scanning codes yea but if u are trying to get live readings like rpm and coolant temp or load value the engine would have to be running

So I just got mine, it's the same as yours .page 8 says turn ignition on.DO NOT start the engine. So I'm confused you started it so ,does it matter or not if the car is running.

That’s what the instructions says but I find out that it does not matter, with the engine on you can retrieve live data, like rpm, engine temp for vehicles that don’t show detailed info. But just a mark, peace

Thanks for the video! Mine won't clear codes for some reason. I can scan and find codes, but when I try to clear, it says clear failure and to turn on with the engine off. When I try to do that it says that no codes are stored. It is a P2200 code related to n0x circuit bank 1. I might be doing something wrong, but I have literally tried for hours. If you see this is there any chance you have an idea of whats going on? Thanks and nice holidays to you!

Can this tool find the problem on the car even if check engine light is not on but car is not running well?

It will show any stored codes with the ignition on and show engine data when the engine is started. So yes, it may show a fault code that doesn’t cause the check engine light to come on, but there are other reasons why an engine may not be running properly which may not have a fault code such as partially blocked filters or burned valves for example.

To READ the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Codes), you want the Key On but the engine Off. Obviously, if you want to check Live Stream data, then you'll want the engine running.

If a code gets erased and the issue isn't solved then it will pop up when the issue happens again

The instruction manual for this is so trash, no instructions on how to connect for live data. It says DO NOT start engine, but how the heck you supposed to get live data. Am I missing something or is it safe to start the car.
