Toto (and the British press) really needs to get over what happened in Abu Dhabi 2021 - his behavior was disgusting. I'm not biased towards Lewis or Max; it was heart-breaking to see Lewis lose in that manner. But that's sport. Near the start of the race, Lewis cut the chicane and stayed in front of Max. The rules are very clear; he should have given up his position, but the stewards, determined to not interfere with the outcome of the race, incredulously said that Lewis had slowed down and given up a couple of seconds, and that he didn't have to give up the position to Max...which was clearly a violation of the rules in Mercedes' favor. Then at the end of the race, the track was clear with 2 laps to go. Michael Masi instructed the safety car to come in at the end of the lap and we had 1 more lap of racing to conclude a thrilling race to the season, where Max passed him fair and square. Mercedes could have pitted Lewis but decided not to and gambled, incorrectly, that the race would finish under the safety car. That is no excuse for Mercedes and Toto to act like a child abusing race control and smashing headphones, which eventually got Charlie Whiting's protege fired, receive death threats and blacklisted from Formula 1, just because he did his job and followed the rule book (which the FIA themselves acknowledged by denying Mercedes' appeal after the racing saying nothing had been done wrong). Even Lewis had showed class after the race congratulating Max. How would Toto have handled such a stressful situation in real time had he been in Michael's shoes? So listening from 33:40 with Toto saying he wants to create "a space where nobody feels humiliated or inadequate" and arrogantly that "we don't blame the person, we blame the problem"" is incredibly hypocritical. Toto has achieved incredible success in F1 with 8 titles, but I think Abu Dhabi 2021 really tarnishes his legacy. I'm glad Mercedes are not winning anymore and we see a lot less of Toto, and a lot more of people like Zac Brown and Fred Vasseur who can get over themselves and have a bit of fun.
@tonyharrison2112Күн бұрын
Lewis cut the Chicane because Max once again pushed him wide off the track and he had to avoid collision. You're take on the safety car also goes against every rule stated. Merc doesn't pit BECAUSE THE RULES FOR A SAFETY CAR ARE CLEAR. There wasn't enough time to unlap all the cars so the race would have ended under a SC = Ham wins. They choose NOT to unlap the cars and they get a single lap of racing but Max has to clear 5 cars and pass Lewis. Even if they get out of the way relatively quickly I highly highly doubt that with HAM bolting on the restart to gap as much as humnaly possible, Max HAVING to over take 5 other cars even with blue flags he'd have at best caught Ham by S3. S3 is almost impossible to pass in Abu Dhabi. Lewis would have made himself extra wide. Likely outcome = Lewis wins. The conclusion to the report was that Masi made a human error in his overruling of the guidelines during the race and steps would be taken to make sure it didn't happen again. It's clear as day. Drivers knew it was a BS call. Pundits knew it was BS. Everyone knew. You're off your rocker.

A lot of word to be wrong. Put it simply the delta showed LH gained no advantage at the start but whatever You typed a novel to say absolutely nothing 😂
@inthepostgame789716 сағат бұрын
@@tonyharrison2112 what you're saying is incorrect. The FIA did not admit to any wrong-doing. If they had, why would they have not permitted Mercedes' appeal and adjusted the results? Also the majority of the cars were allowed to un-lap themselves. At the end of the day, who cares about lapped cars at the back of the grid that do not influence points scoring positions - nobody will remember or care if whoever finished 17th was 1 lap down or not. The ones near the front got out of the way and we had a race. Mercedes chose not to pit Hamilton and have fresh tyres and Toto can't live with that decision. In any case, my main point was that Toto is a complete hypocrite and acts like a megalomaniac, but then later in the interview acts like he is the Dalai Lama. And that my friend, is, as you put it, complete BS. Even the fact the Lewis left is down to Toto. Toto acts like he is Lewis' 'friend, however after all Lewis has done for the team, he wanted a long term contract and things like being a brand ambassador after he retires. Toto is only a somebody because he won 8 championships as team principal, which never would have happened without Lewis. How does Toto respond? Gives Lewis a 2 year contract with an option after 1 year, so basically a 1 year contract....and it blew up in his face. Now he is betting the house with Kimi Antonelli because Toto knows he needs a miracle to stay relevant. You should stick to racing rather have your heads in the clouds Mr. rocket man
@inthepostgame789716 сағат бұрын
@@MiserableRacer It has nothing to do with deltas. If you go off track and either take a position or hold your position, you have to give the place up. Even Martin Brundle in the commentary said "of course Lewis will have to give the position up", and even when the stewards said no investigation necessary, said in the live broadcast he disagreed with the stewards decision because Lewis left the door open, Max pulled alongside and made the pass with all four of his wheels within the white lines, and Lewis raced off ahead by going off track. Since you don't know anything about F1, I will tell you that Martin Brundle is an ex-F1 driver with 158 races and has commentated almost every race since 1997. He is British and a huge Lewis Hamilton fan, but even he was shocked at the stewards' decision. I may write a novel, but you cannot refute what I say...instead you type nothing to say nothing.

I wish toto would stop speaking on behalf of Lewis or these interviewers stop asking him about Lewis. We as a fan have no insight to the driver's personal life but in this case the friend Lewis was on vacation with Mellody had already spoken out about how Lewis was hurting so don't know how toto can be so adamant on the situation Lewis was clearly not okay or fine.

I feel sorry for Toto because he doesn't yet understand that he is doing everything he can just to run even more "perfectly" on the hamster wheel. External success determines his inner satisfaction. Unfortunately, his self-image is based on being "not yet good enough" - which gives him enormous strength, but can never lead to inner peace (which is what everyone ultimately wants). Motivation (and external success) does not require fear (of not being good enough).

The quality of content and the guests you have on is amazing, the ads are a pain no doubt but i have a mouse and can skip them easily, what bugs me is the whacking great microphones stuck in the guest and presenter's face is really unnecessary these days.

I used to have so much respect for Toto. The person you are so upset with for making a decision for his own career got you and your team your 8th world title. You owe him a 7th. What you should really be doing is thank him for his services and wish him all the best. Add some bonuses to his paycheck and move on! Honestly, I'm very disappointed and happy to be a Ferrari fan next year!

Thank you TOTO for being so open. So this is what i think will happen in the next 2 years in F1. Louis will retire, max will retire and pursue other interests. George Russell and Lando Norris will fight it out for a championship. And you will find a new team principal, but still be working in the background.

Toto is a snake of a leader for suggesting the greatest Formula 1 driver of all time and the driver that made him and Mercedes look good for YEARS has lost his form and has a shelf life when Toto could not fix the trash car Mercedes was producing since 2021. After Niki Lauda died Toto got revealed for the poor leader he is, this is why Mercedes is in a downward spiral and THE GREAT Lewis Hamilton is leaving.

“It takes pressure off the team..”are u seriously Toto? Do u really think it’s a good way to let your driver taking all the pressure & responsibility when the team is not delivering? Mercedes has been using lewis and his brand as a shield for the last 3 years to protect yourself from the consequences of your own damn failures. It’s unbelievable how the driver has faced more criticism than the team principal who runs the whole organization. Have some shame, Toto

I’m actually so glad that Kimi is starting his f1 career on this basis, being so young in such a tough environment must be really challenging and having someone with this kind of emotional intelligence is going to take so much weight off of his shoulders

@hwigoup2 күн бұрын
@ the two situations don’t even compare, Kimi is just getting started, he’s promising obviously, but the expectations on him are not even comparable to what Lewis has been dealing with the last couple of years. Kimi starting his career at just 18 with the backing of someone as emotionally mature can only be good for the guy’s mental health. at least, that’s how I personally see it.

I'm sorry what? Toto was trying to kick Lewis out of the sport, with no ambassadorship, no position at Mercedes, nothing. After 12 years of being a champion at Mercedes, Toto thought he could toss Lewis into the street. Except in the street there was a brand new Ferrari waiting with the door open for him with $300 million dollars inside. Ferrari has the better car, the better team, and at this point I think Fred is a better team principal than Toto. If Toto was half as concerned with how terrible Mercedes cars are, they'd be fighting for the championship like the top 3 teams. Mercedes is now a midfield team, and now they've lost their star driver, who made the team popular, and now he'll be driving for the biggest F1 team in the world and literally the biggest brand in the world. Hamilton just beat Toto at his own game, and he's mad about it. This is chess Toto, not checkers. You lost.
