I'm the cook at my firehouse, I made your Shepherd's Pie with ground beef for 7 guys. I made your recipe with ingredients x4 with 4 pounds of beef. All in a single commercial tray. It went over very good, everyone went for seconds. All that was left was a small serving. I ended up spending $56 for all the ingredients. That included rolls, 2 homemade cherry pies with vanilla ice cream. Thanks.

A dear friend of mine taught me a lesson about receiving a gift or kind act from others. I was always the one who did for others. When I needed help, she told me that if I deny someone helping me, I'm not only robbing myself of a blessing but also robbing those of a blessing that want to help me. ❤

Oh my! I love this dish! My late mother-in-law taught me to make this before I married my late husband. I learned her recipe about 48 yrs ago! She explained the difference between Shephards Pie and Cottage Pie. She usually used ground pork and ground beef. She would chop up an onion and cook it with the meats. That was put in the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Then she chopped garlic and sprinkled it on top of the meats. Then she layered carrots, peas, green beans and corn. She used canned vegitables because it was faster and cheaper. She would drain the liquids and save them. Then she used a packet of brown gravy mix. The she sprinkled it over the vegitables. Next she warmed the reserved liquid from the veggies. When it was warm she poured about a cup over the veggies. If you need more liquid, add some of the warmed liquids. You dont want too much liquid, only about enough to come up to about halfway up the vggies. You will need about 8-10 large peeled and cubed potatoes. Cook until they are soft, drain and mash them, the way whateveryour method is. I usually put butter and about1/3 to 1/2 cup of milk, as needed. You dont want thin, runny masked potatoes, they need to be fairly fluffy. Just before adding the potatoes, I sprinkle grated cheese over the top. Then spread the mashed potatoes on top and cook in the oven about 20-30 minutes on 350°. Once the potatoes start to get a bit tan colored turn on the broiler and cook the dish until the potatoes start to sort of look toasted. Once, instead of ground meat, I used cubed stew meat and I braised the meat and used the same brown gravy mix and water. Cook slowly until the gravy begins to thicken. I added chopped onion and garlic powder and pepper. Use the same step for the veggies. This time, you might not need to add more fluid, if you do, use cornstarch to thicken whatever liquid you add. You should need less liquid, you can. If using cubed meat, I dont use cheese. I then add the mashed potatoes. If I use the cubed meat, I add a very thin layer of ketchup over the mashed potatoes then cook about 20-30 minutes in 350° oven. This was a special pan of Shepherds Pie.

Acknowledge your a sinner, (as we all are sinners), confess your sins and turn from them. Ask Him to be Lord of your life. Read and study the Holy Bible, pray, and attend a Bible believing church where you and fellow believers can worship together. Jesus loves you so much, and He is ALWAYS there for you!! I'm just a single guy from Fort Worth Texas, no family left above ground, just my dogs and me. I live on a fixed income from social security, but my boyhood home is what i inherited from my parents, other than a good upbringing with good old Southern values. I've discovered your show on KZbin 2 days ago and I have LOVED everyone of the meals I have watched You cook, I'm saving ALL of them to my liked videos so I can go back to them and cook up some DELICIOUS dishes for myself. As a boy I use to sit on the counter top to watch Mom cook, so all I really know how to cook stuff She cooked. I can not Thank You enough for all the varieties of meals but most importantly "now I know where I have been going wrong with gravy" so now I can finally make proper gravy at 66 years old, THANK YOU. I don't like cheese on any of my food because growing up Mom and Dad had to have cheese on EVERYTHING even pies, I had no say so until I was 16. I never cared for sour cream, even on baked taters, not a big salt eater but do LOVE my black pepper. Every meal I have seen You cook up is just the right amount for myself for two days, I eat one good big meal per day. Thank You for being here for ALL of us. I'd love to sit at the table with Y'all. Are You from Tennessee? Long time connection between Tennessee and Texas. I love good Southern Cooking, also Cajun, Amish and German. Nothing beats HOME COOKING, no matter where it comes from. SOOOO much better than restaurant cooking. Again Thank You Ma'am for all of your wonderful looking SOUTHERN HOME COOKING meals. I have to hush now and get back to your next recipe. Have a SAFE and HEALTHY day.

I have always used ground chuck in it along with the onion and garlic in it when I brown it. My dad was a roast man, so I didn't grow up with all of these delicious meals. The only time we had hamburgers was when we had friends of my parent's over for a BBQ. It may have been a holiday, but I was too young to remember. All I remember is jumping off the picnic bench in our backyard. We also went to Valley Forge State Park on holidays to BBQ a few times. One of the things I remember is what's called drippy bread by the Amish, that's a long a not a short one. Mom would pour the drippings from the beef roast over a slice of bread. She didn't know how to make gravy. I took out several books and learned how to make lump free gravy and homemade soups too. Your showing me that some of my favorite soups can be easy to make. I tried to make tomato soup once and it took me two hours! It just seemed so much easier to open a can of tomato soup after that. And back then the generic cans cost .49 so it was cheaper too. God bless you and your family.

you make your shepherds pie different than i do, and my hubby's family is from Hillbilly country in E Ky and we sometimes squabble over how to make it. i was raised to make it with corn only, no tomatoes, beef gravy or Campbells beefy mushroom and burger on the bottom , i think i will surprise him and make it this way next time. I am sure to score some points. Btw, I share your videos because using food as a platform to share the gospel is the most awesome thing out there today. THank you . Yupersue.

Thanks for sharing. Last time I had that was when married to a Brit and lived in England. I liked mine in a yorkshire pudding bowl like they did for roast. I use minced garlic as well. So much easier. If I could dive in the screen... I would. Lol

I’m a yankee that went to college in southern Kentucky. (That’s when I found out that I was a yankee, lol). Anyway, I absolutely loved my experience there. I fell in love with a country boy and married him! I loved, loved, loved all country cooking. I learned a lot from my mother-in-law and his granny. I eventually learned to cook pretty good country food (for a yank), but it was never as good as hers or granny’s. I love your videos, the food, the accent and the love you ooze. Your recipes are so authentic and just what I remember. Many thanks from a Yankee Country Fan.

Amen Mrs Peggy! That's what you call storing up your treasure in heaven! And thank you for your kind words. I struggled with very bad addiction for most my life and tried everything to kick my addiction but nothing worked until I finally gave my life to God and help from really great people just like you at a church I joined. That was about 5 years ago now and I'm still going strong. I know first hand the kind of love your talking about. Love your recipes! Learning new habits to replace the bad. God bless!

I had a rough ear l had a rough start in life. No need to talk about it but I was a believer that God must not exist because of all I went through. But after binge watching all of your videos I could find, you have led me to God again. I grew up in a Baptist church and met my husband there. We have been married almost 29 years, so I know now that God had to have a hand in that. You are a true inspiration!

God Bless your ministry, and special Blessings go to Peggy! As silly as this sounds, it was the wizard of oz who told the Tin Man, Do not judge your heart by how much you love: Judge it by how much you are loved by others! This is not biblical, but it’s something that the world should embrace! Great recipe!

Becky you made me laugh when you said making mashed potatoes in a blender would make glue. When I was very young and no clue how to cook anything I did that. More like wallpaper paste LOL. Shepherds pie is one of my favorites. Reminds me of my Mom. She made it often. Comfort food. I like the brown peaks too. Love in Christ ❤️

Thank you for this recipe, looks full of flavour. For those interested in making this vegetarian, just sub the beef with drained can of lentils and cooked mushrooms. Tasty and a cheap alternative to beef.

So happy to hear about Peggy and her new walk with God!! This news brings great joy to me, too. You are so precious to share what people need, more than they need a new recipe, or an old recipe, we all need that walk with God through Jesus Christ! I loved the show.
