Maha Shivratri Story
Maha Shivratri is a Hindu festival, celebrated annually in honour of Lord Shiva, the God of destruction. Shivratri is celebrated in every month of the luni-solar calendar, in accordance with the Hindu calendar but once a year, in late winter Maha Shivratri is celebrated to commemorate the oncoming summer. Maha Shivratri, literally translates as ‘the great night of Shiva’ and according to legend, it is on this night that Lord Shiva performs his heavenly dance or ‘tandav’ representing creation, preservation and destruction. As per many, it is also the day when Shiva and Parvati got married, thus the union of Prakriti and Purusha for the well-being of the world.

@TheHinduSaga foremost thank you for creating a channel naming it for hindu Saga , I have a few suggestions please be patient : 1) call Shiva as Shiva the creator the Mahadev meaning is he is ultimate energy ultimate God himself , who is dev (God) of Gods not just a destructor! 2) we don’t need to westernize names they should be the way they are (ppl will learn) 3. Barat is just a procession that loved ones comes along with the groom to visit brides place ! In this case of Lord Shiv ji , he doesn’t differentiate btw the dead & the living & he is the God for Gods & demons alike therefore all those living or dead loved Shiva & happily included themselves to be part of an important event of their isht ( deity or the person they love) English listeners may confuse the event 🙏 a request to redo a video again to make small adjustments in the language after all Hindus are minority in the world with the threat of extinction of our culture each day. This is a misconception that maa Parvati and lord Shiva got married on this day....the day when they got married is known as shitalsasthi day.,

This is the day when lord Shiva and Ma Parvati got married . Yet there is another story too . This story goes back in time of Sati's period (before the marriage of Sati with Lord Shiva) . Actually daksh had several other daughters were two of them Revati and Rohini were married to Moon God(chandra dev). Among which Moon God loved Rohini the most and didn't take care of Revati . Daksha came to know this and cursed Chandra dev that he will have to suffer the deterioration of the body with short period of time and die . As the world started to become Unstable . Every Rishis , Munivars , Aghoris and many started to Seek the help of LORD SHIVA . So with the guidance of Rishi Markandeya , everyone including Sati started to Chant The MAHAMRITYUNJAYA MANTRA to save Chandra dev from the curse . So as they chanted 108 times , lord Shiva appeared before them and healed chandra dev . But chandradev cannot escape the cusre , so in order not letting Chandra dev to die and to save him from the curse , Lord shiva placed the Moon(as a crescent moon) on his head so that no curse will affect him .At that time , NIGHT has already begun , So Being an Auspicious day , every rishis and munivars named this day as MAHA SHIVARATRI . This is the first story of MAHA SHIVARATRI . This the reason that chanting the MAHAMRITYUNJAYA MANTRA 108 times on Maha Shivaratri is extremely good that LORD SHIVA grants whatever you pray or ask him and you'll get his full blessings in your life .. very nicely done with paintings and narration. At 2:26 seems like a crucial part of the drama was cut out. Because Parvati could not bear the insults to her great husband she burned her body to ashes at the sacrifice. Learning of this, Lord Shiva created the demons who attacked those attending the sacrifice. Daksha was beheaded but kept alive through replacement of a goat head.

It would've been better if you mentioned this: After the death of the goddess Sati, out of grief and sorrow, Lord Shiva carried Sati's body, reminiscing about their moments as a couple, and roamed around the universe with it. Lord Vishnu had cut her body into 51 body parts, using his Sudarshana Chakra, which fell on Earth to become sacred sites where all the people can pay homage to the Goddess known as Shakti Pitha. 🙏🇮🇳
