Great story of one American hero. It is amazing to actually see where specific actions took place and see the memorials the French and others placed there in their honor. It is a privilege to watch and remember these heros from 80+ years ago. Thank you for all of your efforts Rob. A grateful American. 🇺🇲

I am so appreciative of your taking the time to film the ground as you walk along. As I doubt I'll ever get to go there myself, this is one way for me to experience it. As a former soldier, I can truly now understand what an incredible feat of arms this was. A one man attack against such odds; it was a miracle that he survived to take the position and capture 35 enemy soldiers as well. Sad that he didn't survive the war, but such men seldom do.

I watch a lot of your videos. My father was in the armoured corp during WW2 and fought in the Ardennes and Arnhem amongst other places. He very rarely said much about any of it. Being in my sixties now I dread to think about the loss of life and the emotional damage done to those fortunate enough to return home. Now I know he was.

Frank Peregory had to be operating on surging adrenaline to be able to jump ALONE into such a daunting fortified trench 13:12 it is almost beyond belief! I so wanted to hear a different outcome - that Frank Peregory had lived to receive his Medal of Honor.

Another fine production, Buddy. An excellent example of the stubborn determination of but one brave man, on a day of much bravery. As you, I, and very many of your viewers know, there are multiple examples of incredible selflessness and bravery which are never rewarded, or even recorded. I take nothing from the reconition of this brave soul's actions, and am pleased he was awarded the highest recognition. Without your video, very few people will have known of Sgt Peregory - so we are all grateful for you sharing his story. His agressive fighting spirit was no one-off action, and sadly he was killed when doing the same again. Are these heroes supermen? Are these heroes snarling cigar-chomping muscle men? No. These are ordinary men doing extraordinary deeds. We are grateful to them all. As for the mug... you've never got the brews in yet - so there's no hope there 😂 Seriously - to all other viewers - I have purchased a large mug (the mug for men!). It is great, and proudly sits in my office. I recommend it highly 👌🏻 Remember - the merch profits go into Rob's coming productions. He makes these videos for us. Through these, we learn about the less well-known (or unknown!) stories. A lot of time and affort is put into the study, planning and production of these - and all in his own time, whist holding down a very demanding job. I am confident the thousands who love to Explore History would love to raise a HE mug to toast Sgt Peregory, and to every video released by the HE.

@NDB46918 күн бұрын
Fog of war, confusion. Mind you if you’re in a trench and thinking you’ve got your area covered, than some enemy soldier charges in during all that chaos, you may be inclined to surrender considering the enemy presence and the shear audacity of the one soldier! You’d probably think there’s more coming! Also he was within sight of his unit so a few others probably followed behind and witnessed the events, and helped corral the enemy prisoners. Good to note that some of the defenders of Normandy were polish and Czech Republic troops forced into the German army so they’d be inclined to surrender a lot easier sometimes, not that the invaders weren’t facing some top notch German soldiers as the battle for Normandy progressed.
