I am 100% Dutch. But all American-Dutch. I’ve only been to the Dutch Antilles. My one grandma came over when she was 5 years old and the other grandparents were born here in the USA just after their parent’s emigrated from the Netherlands. They all ended up in West Michigan- which is the largest settlement of the Dutch. “If you’re not Dutch, you’re not much” was our tongue in cheek mantra. Lol. I was delighted to find this THG episode about the tulip. I grew up in a family business just outside of Grand Rapids, MI in a landscape construction nursery. As I was listening, the Beanie Babies came to mind. So when they were mentioned later, I broke out in laughter. Thanks for sharing that history- I found it fascinating. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷

Josh, I`m very sorry if I`m being rude here, but I`ve been watching The History Guy for years and I really like being able to see Lance`s presentations. He has a soothing and trustworthy way. So... Bring him back as soon as you can, ok? And you seem to have a nice elocution too, I bet you could host some videos. Cheers from a brasilian follower! Now let me get back to the podcast.

Guy Martin is amazing, not just for his incredible motorcycle racing skills at the Isle of Man, nor his fantastic mechanical engineering abilities, but for the fact that he has done it all while beating aspergers syndrome! He is truly amazing.

You sound like you're sitting about 3 feet away from the mic and facing sideways. Very distant and bizarre. But thank You for "Tulip-Gate". My favourites are white and deep purple Parrot Tulips. We drove to Keukenhof every year.❤

I have raised a lot of birds from Bob white quail,to ring necked pheasants. But in my humble opinion the most beautiful chicken hands down would have to be the Minnie Lafleur, from belgium. They look like grouses, and are extremely intelligent.

Point of information..As I understand it, the famine was so great during the late years of WW2 that tulip bulbs were eaten..so whether or not they have any nutritional value or taste good...they definitely had great value to many folks in the Netherlands in the late 1940s.

A good parallel is the imminent repeat of the 2008 realestate bust, but it will be MUCH more devistating
