Lance gas GOT to lean into the mic during the discussion sessions. Josh is clear and loud. The contrast with his Dad is striking.

We might call Phillip of Macedon, Phillip the Great, except his son was Alexander. Phillip was quite an interesting guy. He left Alexander a united Greece (under Macedonian dominance), a military system of combined arms and tactics superior to anyone else. and a superb army. He also left Alexander a leadership style of leading from the front and a desire to conquer Persia. Can't remember the source or the exact quote but it goes something like, "He lost and eye, a hand, and a leg that the remaining parts of his body might live in greater glory". You don't get that by sitting in a chariot in the back.

I am glad I live in the current age. Such massive discoveries because of new technology in my lifetime. What else will be uncovered in the next decades?

everyone interested in Alexander the Great should watch British historian Michael Wood's documentary "In the footsteps of Alexander the Great". It really is a very good documentary.

I bet Josh looks just like his dad. He sounds just like him. That's literally history being remembered.

Was it Xenophon who said that "Persia belongs to the man with the courage to take it." I know someone contemporary to Phillip and Alexander said it.

Does anyone here know a good biography of Alexander? I've always been fascinated by him, but have been focusing on American History.

Robin Lane Fox wrote a very good biography. Philip Freeman also - his is easier. I prefer Lane Fox.

In current time news outlets are known for pushing an agenda rather than reporting the news in a fair and balanced way. Do you run across this when researching for your shows? If so, howdo you decipher what really happened?
