Just throwing this out there, is it possible that the dead tree is the same one the children used when making the first white walkers? And that's what killed it, making their true name forbidden amongst the kingdoms, or maybe they were Starks, since which the history has been hidden?

I think making the white walkers is when they carved faced in the trees. I think Raventree turning black was something else. Probly from the hammer of the waters would be my guess.

Really enjoyed this video. Far too many Ice& Fire related videos are filled with endless whacko "theories" in which every character turns out to be somebody else, as well as being revealed to have super natural powers - despite G Martin having said many times that he believes in keeping the supernatural to a minimum. This video manages to avoid those too common traps. He speculated about things, but his speculations were always grounded in the reality of the world that Martin has created. What's more, I ended up with a much better grasp of the landscape of the areas in the novels. Very enjoyable indeed.

I simply assumed the Manderleys sailed towards White Harbour instead of travelling inland. They must have had to carry a portion of their abundant wealth too, to invest capital into the North and to rebuild their trades and industries.

Tribes trekking huge distances was very common until 1000-1500 years ago. Or think of how Normandy became a Viking state with the French king a liege lord. The Blackwoods moving south is hardly a biggie. And a Blackwood simply marrying into a powerful Andal house made the move to keep their faith much less balsy. Marriages for power seem to be totally overlooked here.

Just wanted to ask. While the plausiblity of the Starks kicking the Blackwoods out due to proximity of an enemy house near, could it be that since they were a house of the deep woods, could House Blackwood have betrayed the Pact and that is the reason they were kicked out.
