The Killdeer bird is a large plover found in the Americas. It was described and given it's current scientific name in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus. Both parents incubate the eggs for 22-28 days. The young stay in the nest until the day after being hatched, when they are led to a feeding territory where the chicks will feed themselves. (Wikipedia, I had to look it up!) I have them in my area as well... They range from southeastern Alaska, southern Canada to Mexico... Have a blessed night Shoestring 🙏 Stay Safe

A lot of times the Killdeer will run away from its nest if you get too close and pretend it has a broken wing in an attempt to divert your attention away from the nest. Then when you follow it long enough it flies away with its “ broken” wing.

Good to see you out and about. It's been a rough week for me so this video is just what I needed to bring my spirits up. It's a shame that they are tearing out the Erwin yard but I understand if it's no longer being used the railroad will tear down the buildings and take up the rails so they don't have to pay so much taxes on unused buildings etc.. Sure would be awesome if the could repurpose that crew hotel building. I thought it was awesome that the railroad employee recognized you and didn't give you any trouble. I know that sometimes you wish that you weren't recognized so often but it just proves that when people do recognize you that they give you the honor and respect that you deserve I can't believe that the Killdeer let you get so close. I think she sensed that you are a good person and meant her no harm. I hate to hear that you are getting the runaround on having your medical procedure performed. I'll be praying that Vanderbilt will do it for you. Can't understand why no one wants to do it. It upsets me that you aren't getting the treatment that you need and deserve. So many military veterans are treated like 💩 and it's not right. Thank you for the stories and making me laugh. I feel better. Your videos always brighten my day. 🙂 I'm sending a multitude of prayers your way that you will be able to get the medical treatments you need and that your health will quickly return 100% and you will soon be out on the rails doing what you love and sharing your journeys with us. Take care friend. God bless. Much love and respect 🙏❤

Thanks for posting your travels Shoestring. I can watch trains all day. I was always watching the RR cams when I stumbled across your channel. I used to hop trains from Victorville to San Bernardino in the early 70's. It was a fun and easy ride down the Cajon pass, but I was too green to know how hard is hard to catch a ride back because they have a hard pull up the mountain pass so they put massive power to make it up the grade and they were going just a bit too fast to grab onto. I finally got caught by a bull and they called my parents who had to come and fetch me from Santa Fe detention. I was only 14, so probably for the best.

Larry Lawton is awesome! He started out as a regular jewel thief but progressed into a jewelry store robber as well as a doesn't other things, all on behalf of the mob. He made damn good money, and made a killing for the mob bosses, no pun intended. Lol. Anyway, he's an incredibly smart man, with tons of stories to tell and a lot of really good advice. He actually will travel around the us as a motivational speaker, talking to teenagers and even other prisoners about going straight and getting out of crime business. He has a real strong impact on a lot of people, and it's very obvious that he genuinely cares about the people he talks to and tries to help. Also, like shoe string mentioned, he spent a ridiculous amount of time going through and reading every law book he could get his hands on while in prison. He also does prison cooking episodes on his channel, where he'll make stuff they would make in prison with very few ingredients. I'll tell you what, those guys are ingenious and very resourceful because some of the things they use and put together to create the things we take for granted on a daily basis, like pizza crust and other things like that, is a kind of amazing. Super interesting and some of the food looks pretty good actually. But, I wholeheartedly agree that if folks haven't seen or watched any of his videos yet, they should definitely go and find his channel because besides the things I've already mentioned, he's also a very interesting guy and a great storyteller as well.

I am a retired probation/parole officer and I used to take ex-cons to the lockups to talk with the young criminals about changing their ways. Of course, I could give the same advice, but the young crims never wanted to hear advice from "the man." Long story short, new management was/is under the impression that only "professional therapists" can motivate crims to get their lives straightened out.
