I think this was a case of the Blues not having room for PO Joseph, and it was either waive him and he could end up anywhere or help him go somewhere he's comfortable with. The reason Kessel was sent down to Springfield when the Blues got Fowler was that anyone else would require waivers. And if Leddy comes back, Scotty P and PO Joe were the only D you could realistically get rid of for purely roster limit reasons. I think if it wasn't for the roster freeze, they would have held onto him a bit longer just in case, but between Faksa's unfortunate cut and Leddy's lingering injury, they need the roster flexibility

It can be a favor or a curse as we quebecers expect a consistent effort every night ... floaters are "persona non grata" in Montreal and are usually run out of town by fans and the media. I think this is a steal for the Blues. Future Considerations, in my opinion, has been flying under the radar as a promising young prospect. While his points-production might not be very high right now, he seems to be trending in the right direction very fast. It may be bold of me to say, but I think he will have some elite talent by the end of his career, and even lead the Blues to another Stanley Cup.

This was Armstrong moving a guy he couldn't use to a place where he'll get to play. The Blues are stacked with lefthanded D-men and Joseph was playing two games out of nine or something like that. He'll have the opportunity to get more NHL ice time in Pittsburgh.

Any chance you could add minor peripherals for dmen? Like hits, shots blocked, +/-? Or even mention that he could be a PP2 fit or a PK player. I feel like having points up for dmen doesn’t really help at times. And yes I love to hear you talk about them, but it would be nice to have a visual on top of you saying “(so and so) is a great depth dman he can play on the bottom pair”. I hope your mother’s procedure went well!

Barron is a purely offensive right handed defenseman who was severely lacking in our defensive zone due to his LACK OF PHYSICAL PLAY, the opposition consistently exploited this weakness. We already have other defensemen (ie. Hutson, Matheson) who are better than him on the offensive side so Barron was expendable. I considered Barron to be a liability in our own zone so I don't think he had any future with the team as Reinbacher and Mailloux are coming down the pipeline on the right side of our defense. As for Carrier, I can't say as I've haven't seen much of him but I'm willing to give our management the benefit of the doubt. Note: We got Barron from the Avalanche for Artturi Lehkonen and a 2nd round pick (which was then traded away when we picked Michael Hage in the last draft) ... so basically Lehkonen ==> Carrier and Hage.

From what i remember, Joseph was just okay in Pittsburgh, and very streaky. However, if he can get back to that I'll take him over the disaster that is Ryan Graves any night. Really though, this is a reaction to Petterson being out for a while. With Aho and St. Ivany injured as well, we're playing the bottom of our defense depth right now, so Joseph really can't make anything worse right?
@JustBob-sw4rf15 күн бұрын

Baron has a high ceiling, but was not getting the minutes. At 23 he is 5 yrs younger than Carrier, who was a non-factor D on the worst team...whose major attraction is that he is a francophone. Canadiens have plenty of huge prospects, so it's good to give Baron a walk where he can keep up his progress to being a productive top 4 D in a couple of years. He is a great skater, blocks shots, can jump in and score, and has been showing lately that he can hit. He has better size than Carrier at 6-3 and 200+ lbs. Pred's win easily.
