Growing up in Montreal, it was hockey or ball hockey. Pucks were known to show up on an icy street or parking lot. Things got very serious very quickly. We "tried" not to lift the puck, but shins might get an extra bruise or two.

ANOTHER smart move of the Vegas org to make inroads in Phoenix since the league was so inept there. Vegas should go a step further and play a couple pre-season games there as well. And IF they really had the stones, move their AHL team there. Utah should also play a some pre-season games in Phoenix as well.

@@doaftheloaf because you don't get new fans doubling up NHL and AHL teams in the same small market. Plus Vegas doesn't have a strong secondary market anymore now that Utah has a team. And Phoenix is very close and has flights to Vegas all day and is a major hub for getting anywhere else.

On the topic of the Phoenix hockey situation, I have heard online that ESPN considers Arizona to be the blackout territory for the Vegas Golden Nights, UHC, and the Colorado Avalanche. No Avalanche games are carried by local networks.

I'm in Tucson. Vegas and Utah are blacked out on ESPN. I've not noticed Colorado being blacked out. A local over the air/cable station will show Vegas and Utah games. But if they are both playing at the same time, we only get one, and it's usually Vegas. It's like adding insult to injury. They took our team, and now we can't even watch the team play. I've been a season ticket holder for the Tucson Roadrunners since 2016, but this is the last year.

Sabres fans need to stop showing up to games. Absolutely insane how after 14 years of incompetence they keep making the same mistakes. Trading away a legit 2C for a 2nd pairing defenseman to play 3rd pair is definitely great asset management. Same can be said about the Montour trade for what a 5th, all after trading a 1st and an at-the-time good prospect for him? When the fans stop showing up, that's when Pegula will listen. Just kicking the can down the road will not fix anything. Sabres don't have a team built to win, they don't have a coach built to win, they don't have a GM built to win. Most "playoff contenders" who are bottom of the league would make at least one trade now. The Rangers aren't Cup contenders at all but at least they TRIED to fix things by trading out Trouba for next to nothing. Sabres' management clearly doesn't care about the way the team plays, as long as the fans of other teams continue to fill up 90% of the arena they're happy. With that being said, Sabres probably win against the Habs 8-2 tonight because of course.

It did expand, Utah is a new team with no history as Arizona retains the history if they can start another Coyotes team there. Adding a new team is an expansion even if another team was lost at the same time, otherwise if the Yotes come back the league will expand and they'd be an "expansion" team with 28 years of history... :huh: I have no clue how Utah's involvement with the quarter century teams will work, I guess the NHL just doesn't want to leave them out but it's silly.
