You're part of that 30% who can make estrogen at the tissue level. It's enough to avoid the worst symptoms but maybe not enough to prevent the big 3 diseases. Make sure you get bone screening, and you absolutely avoid metabolic syndrome. Going into menopause i started becoming metabolically unwell.
❤❤❤ Two of my favorite KZbin doctors! I’m 52 and have been on estradiol patch & micronized progesterone since December. My mood, sleep and skin problems improved, which I didn’t even know had to do with hormones. I have more energy and motivation, and lost 7 lbs in 2 months. I lift heavier, do zone 2 cardio regularly and track macros & micronutrients using Cronometer app + a food scale per dr. Mary Claire’s recommendation. Thank you for helping so many women & their partners by spreading your knowledge and passion.

I'm excited to have found this video with Dr. Youn. I have watched a bunch of Dr. Haver's video trying to figure out if she recommends estradiol alone or does it always go alongside progesterone. I see you take both. Would you be able to share anything about this with us? Please & thank you 🙏🏼
@tlc92792 ай бұрын
You have to take both to prevent uterine wall thickening & bleeding. I’m on 0.05 patch + 100mg progesterone. I started with 0.0375 patch with little improvement, so increased after 3 months. Then I had some spotting (which is normal), so took 200mg for 5-7 days which stopped the bleeding, then back to 100mg. 200mg was making me drowsy but should be safe. It took me a 2-3 months to get the right dose, and it could change overtime. Every woman is different- and consult with your gyno.

I am a pharmacy technician in Canada and years ago I worked in a compounding pharmacy where we made an estrogen cream. They had been making it for a long time before I worked there but at some point before my employment they started mixing it in a mix master. So the first time I made it when I started putting it in the 30 and 60 gm tubes I thought I would make 30 gm tubes and if I made 300 grams at a time I would logically get ten tubes but I got many more tubes than I should have. I pointed it out to the pharmacist owner and said I am pretty sure the mix master is whipping too much air into the cream and then the 30 grams of cream would not fit into the 30 gram tube. We stopped using it immediately and went back to the slower unguator. The pharmacist had hired me because I had worked for 10 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing. I am not sure how long women would have gone on getting a lower dose had not noticed this. I hope compounding pharmacies have more regulations now.

Every specialty could benefit from knowing more about menopause like she mentioned but I would add that every specialty would benefit knowing more about diet, nutrition, environmental toxicity (ie toxic mold illness, heavy metal poisoning, emf exposure, etc.) also. This is where functional medicine comes into the conversation.

I had a hysterectomy at 40 for severe endometriosis and started HRT patches a year or so later. I read about the study but still decided to keep using it as no familial breast cancer. I’m still taking it and I’m now 63. My heart is 100% healthy, my bones are strong and while I did gain a lot of weight initially mainly due to hypothyroidism, I have lost it again slowly. Aside from osteoarthritis, I feel really good and my mind is still really sharp. I’m no longer depressed and life is great. My OBGYN said I could use until my 90’s. Lately I found out that if you take HRT from early on it helps protect you from Alzheimers which my mother started getting in her late 60’s. God I hope so! I still get my regular screening like mammograms etc though.

Unless all doctors are trained thoroughly on menopause, nothing you say will go any further than your KZbin channel and women will continue to be forcibly diagnosed as depressed, and antidepressants will be shoved down their throats. Doctors will also be glad to hand off prescriptions that help hot flashes, even in cases where hot flashes are mild yet the anxiety that comes out of nowhere, is debilitating. But, oh, no! They can't help with that anxiety. At all! That's just depression. Here is your depression medication that you do not need. You know what really makes people depressed? Doctors who have all the power in the world, but do not listen to their patients and treat them as though they are stupid and uneducated despite their level of education.

The only thing that doesn’t sit well is the diet culture and restrictive dieting from the “Galveston Diet” which can increase stress itself and anxiety around food and ones body and can push some women into disordered eating or full on eating disorders. I mean here we are again being judged and criticized by the size of our bodies during an important transitional time in our life . If women are taking care of their hormones they shouldn’t need to do a bunch of restrictive things which is completely exhausting and stress producing. Also, a nutrition certificate does not necessarily make one a specialist. BUT I really appreciate all of Dr Havers info especially around menopause and hormones and advocating for women’s health. The info is a godsend and I really appreciate all the time she is taking to educate and spread this news.

I have listened to multiple podcasts by Dr. Claver and she is very complimentary about the knowledge registered dietitians have. You have a point about triggering disordered eating . But Dr. Claver has a point too. If what you are doing isn't working to control your weight something needs to change. I recommend everyone listened to Dr Robert Lustig on the dangers of ultraprocessed food ( no fiber ,pharmacological doses of sugar) . Food companies deliberately add huge doses of sugar to their packaged food because they know people will buy more and eat more. Sugar ( table sugar) is two molecules joined together - glucose joined with fructose. Fructose is the molecules that triggers the reward centers in the brain. We have a massive obesity epidemiologist in the developed world. Weaning from packaged junk food is part of staying healthy.
@lindajones48492 ай бұрын
Ok - food restrictions may trigger disordered eating in some women. But we have a WORLDWIDE obesity epidemic in developed countries i n large part Due to the pharmacological doses of sugar in ultraprocessed food. See lectures by Dr Robert Lustig on this topic and the dangers of eating large amounts of sugar laced ultraprocessed food. Keeping your weight out of the obesity range is part of staying healthy.
