For me: We are safe now. You should have been kept safe always. I promise to take care of you. I love you and will always make sure that you're protected. It wasn't your fault and I can understand how scary it was for you. Your caregivers' inability to love you the way you needed does not mean anything about who you are. You are worthy and lovable and no longer need to perform for love in any way. People who hurt others are hurting themselves, their pain is no longer yours to carry. I forgive myself for the things I've done because of the pain that I have carried. We are healing and I will now make choices in our own best interest.

I’ve been reading your book, now on chapter 7. I also listened to your podcast and have been following Dr. Mate, which together has all been such a blessing! It’s so crazy to me that even after years of counseling and feeling a sense of freedom from some of the things I endured as a child I still struggled with recognizing how it showed up in my body. Doing this inner child work has been such a blessing! Thank you so much for getting on your journey and sharing it with us all.❤️

I so appreciated this as I did it as a new moon ritual, visualizing myself in different scenarios where I had felt abandoned and unloved, not seen or heard. It was very healing and my heart felt so much lighter. Thank you! 💛🙏🏼

All of these affirmations feel really healthy, except for one. The word *should* keeps me looped in blaming. Instead of saying to myself: You *should* have been kept safe. I prefer: You were not safe then, but you are safe now with me forever. I am a conscious adult now who loves and cares for my inner child.

It is hard to forgive myself for the damages i have done to my child having my own patterns of my behaviour during her upbringing, because I see now she developed low self esteem and guilt the same as I have carried from my own childhood. Our eastern culture aggravates all above. Nt sure how long I have to do my WORK to forgive myself. Intellectually I understand what you mean in healing inner child, as well as other phsycologists and philosophers, yoga practices and buddism that I love. How ever, in practice I do not see myself changing. May be some reactions changed its presentation, for example instead of breaking dishes I just withdraw, but the core issue stays. I guess discipline and repetition is the key. But it clashes with my eastern restrictive upbringing, that I have been running from all life. So I had to discipline myself in disassociation to my culture discipline views.

I love Dr. Nicole’s work, but I have to say, her voice is robotic. Please, get someone else to narrate. I had to stop listening to the audiobook because it was unbearable. I really want to benefit from her meditations, but this would be so much better in a different voice. It’s not a judgement against her; but we all have to know where our strengths lie and let others support us in areas where others are better.
