Very admirable for you to speak out about these showcases, Ms. Wright! When we were kids, my brother and I tried out for something like this - the open audition was free, but then you had to pay $500 if you were called back. We were at the audition, then "won" a callback, but we didn't fall for it. Someone attending the open audition actually spoke out to the crowd and said the whole thing was a rip-off. At the time, the host tried to explain it away as a disgruntled heckler, but it made the whole thing suspicious. As you teach repeatedly, you should not have to pay to audition!

I’ve went to a few of these showcases before and it’s exactly what you said. They were too busy trying to order food & party later than to even care about us giving them our headshots.😢

I just came back from the Folsom Talent Connection today in Sacramento CA who just sold me what you are talking about for $4,900.00 at the Sheraton Hotel in LA. And that's not including airfair, room and meals. Thank you Wendy, I will block them.

I doubt anyone will see this comment but I just found this video today 10/17/24 and I was about to leave a question about JRP virtual when you mentioned them in your video. I looked them up and they claim to have worked with some well known actors like Josh duhammel and Lucas Till. I came across their ad and booked an audition with them and surprise I got a callback a few hours later. They wanted me to do a final audition where I recited a 30 sec monologue and wanted me to select a package for one of their training classes which ranged from 950 to over 3k for training in acting, singing, or modeling. Of course I didn’t have that kind of money so I had to decline. But since you mentioned them here I’m starting to think that maybe that was a blessing in disguise. I really want to get in with your academy because I’ve been watching your videos for some time now and feel like I’ve learned more here than anywhere else

One would do better as an actor, to take that 5-10k if you have it. Do your research, find a low or micro budget production that needs funding. One that you're interested in being a part of. Use that money to invest in that film. If your conversations go well. You'll get to see the whole process. You'll also be in a position to get a role in that film. You can get producer credit. It's on your resume, you get more set experience. That's just one option. $5-10k is also enough to do a mini web series or a short yourself. You'll have to be very creative. But your money would be much better spent doing those things, than one of these scam programs she is warning you about.

Absolutely. And they don’t even need to spend the whole time they can spend $5000 on a film and $5000 on classes, clips, headshots and profiles. But I’m a firm believer. They need to come through Hollywood Winners Circle Academy with me because people don’t understand how to take head shots with emotion, they don’t understand you’re acting clips need to be very specific and really feature them in the clip not everybody else.

This gave me flash backs. Pro Scout came to mind when watching. went to an event of theirs. and the price they wanted for me to go to the event was $750 dollars. and I also had to get money to stay at the hotel they were at in Chicago. Fortunately I didn't go. but I was desperately trying to back then, but something kept coming up and kept interfering with it. so glad I didn't fall for this. reading lots of books and been in acting classes.

Hi Wendy, my name is Francisco. NY-based actor here. Uhm so for NY specifically Nine9 have definitely been scamming people. I went to an event they had before.. i also tried to get an interview with them and they were telling us about packages and stuff like that for about $500? People were sharing that they paid the money and never heard from them again. I went to an agency call back later in life with an industry professional agent named Shirely Adunni Faison. Great lady btw. But yeah.

Been there! It felt so false from the git go that I did walk out. I cab’t speak for anyone else, but for me, I do not want an ego brush. I want good feedback and honest opportunities. And..if I need more experience or training, then tell me! It was a waste of time, but not really. No experience is wasted if you see the lesson. Appreciate your addressing this matter.

I truly admire the dedication you have to this channel and helping beginning actors get to where they want to be in life. But if I live in Kansas, have no money, no transportation, my mom doesn't even know I'm serious about being an actor..even i somehow found a way to pay for acting classes and casting networks, it seems impossible I would be able to make to make it even close to a film set. Do you have any advice for me?

Gratitude is important. It's to do with Karma. U asked a question. 'KazinaTheArtist' answered it 4 u. PLUS!! gave u resources. And not a SQUEAK from you 😲 ● Go back and say 'Thank You' ● PLUS give up while ur behind. Work on bring an appreciative, socially-mannered human being. When u've mastered that...the acting will follow.
