My parents dated for 3 weeks. They were married 50 years. Then my father died. My mother followed 11 years later. It’s amazing that Russel wasn’t even originally supposed to be part of the story. But the kid who did Russel’s voice was with his mom and older brother (who was auditioning for a part) and he would not stop talking. He was apparently so entertaining and talked so non-stop while waiting for his brother to audition, that he caught the attention of the crew and, then they rewrote the script to include a little boy named Russel. So amazing how things work out sometime.

I went to see this at the movies with my wife and daughter. I was in the Army at the time and suffering with mental health issues. Prior to this movie I never cried and I was never emotional. This movie broke me and I cried the whole way through to the point my wife kept asking me what was wrong. It was such a good cathartic release and for a short while after, I felt so relieved. Such a powerful message for a kids movie. Thanks for posting.

Kids actually love this movie. We saw it in the theater when it came out. The adults were crying all the way through but the kids laughed. They didn't pick up on the heavy emotions of the relationship with Ellie. The just saw the fun and adventure and the silly stuff like alpha's broken voice box and the antics with Dugan and Kevin. It's quite amazing how it hit the different age groups as a completely different movie. Soon as I saw the icon for this reaction I knew it would hit Ellie especially hard. Great reaction girls, as always.

The reason this will be my favorite Pixar movie is because this came out during the toughest times of my life. I saw it in theaters with my mom who had been diagnosed with sarcoma cancer at the time, and it really stuck deep to me cuz it was a reality check. About 8-9 months later she passed away, she was only 31. It’s been almost 14 years and I still watch this movie, sticking to message behind. My mom had a great adventure with the limited time she had, and she would want me to have more adventures. So never take anything/anyone for granted, and live your life to the fullest!

The opening montage in this movie is an absolute work of art, on every level that art exists... the rest of the movie is a delight, of course, and the end powerful and heart-warming, but the opening montage is something to be studied and cherished all on its own. Also, I am deeply blessed and lucky enough to say that I and my wife of 20 years have this exact relationship... so much so that two pictures hang in our home, one of Karl and Ellie as a young couple and one of them as an elder couple, gifts from friends as a sort of avatar for our family. Like them, our only regret is that we will never have children of our own, but even that misfortune has opened doors to amazing shared experiences as we live for each other instead.

Sometimes, I feel strangely proud that I live in the same country whose geography inspired the place where Carl wanted to go. It is such a wondrous natural beauty, it makes sense people would want to come from far away to see it. Sometimes there are things in life that you see that make you feel so small, yet they show how much more there is to life that is worth living for... They are all out there actually. Waiting to be seen. You just have to look at them from the right angle sometimes, and they don't have to be quite as big. And in the end, that's what he needed. It was not about the place, but the journey there. I'm glad he realised their dream, and found a connection to joy and love again along the way.

I was in my freshman year of college when this movie came out. Me and seven or eight frat buddies crammed in a dorm room expecting to laugh and jeer at a kid's movie, and inside ten minutes we were all stunned into sadness after the opening sequence. From then on we were invested enough to watch and pay attention, and you never saw a dozen 18-year-old men shed a few manly group tears until near the end (and you know what scene I'm talking about). I now have a memory I can laugh at and remember fondly years later, thanks to "Up". A truly good movie!

Such wonderful human things CAN happen. Whatever challenges they faced, they were deeply human. I have been on this planet for several decades, and I realize there were chances to share a love that I never noticed. Karen Carpenter sings "My chance could come and I might never know". I am still kind of looking for that. Like so many others, I built a wall around my heart, but I think I understand now. In this life I have sought a reason to maintain it, as we all search for a reason. My purpose is sometimes briefly fulfilled. I feel the joy and pain of love. I feel hope. I feel lost. I only know that I need this, to be human. Or I can be a 'typical' man and shrug these things off, and let my soul be wasted for a time. And who knows what may happen. Perhaps one day another curious soul will pass near and see a gap I left in this wall out of desperation, and take the risk to reach out to me, and I will have the courage to look into their eyes and fall in love again. Just perhaps.

She says Viki cries more than her. No. Ellie has cried at 70 movies including this one. She even cried at the Hangover. Viki, however, only cried at 25 movies including this one. It kinda worries me to no end that she can’t control herself. All the Homies occasionally make fun of her for it and apparently some people on Patreon are just making suggestions that they know will make Ellie and Viki cry. I do agree though that she can make a world record as the girl who cries the most out of any soul in the entire universe.

@@unkown34x33 I’m not saying that you were making fun of her. I’m saying that all the Homies make fun of each other on occasion for crying like lil pussies. Have you seen Ellie and Moon Sugar react to Shrek? As Shrek is getting married to Fiona, Ellie immediately looks like she’s having a fucking heart attack. Moon Sugar takes one look at Ellie and she’s like, “What the fuck?” Then, she stares at the camera and is like, “Do you see this motherfucker?” While Moon Sugar was being disgusted by Ellie’s funny ass sobbing, Ellie took a look at Moon Sugar as well. Ellie’s face at that moment said one of two things. A. “Why are you not crying wit me?” or B. “Oh, fuck, she saw me! What do I do now?” Then, she continued to cry while Moon Sugar was staring at the camera. Next moment, the two girls look at each other. Ellie gives another face at Moon Sugar. That other facial expression Ellie gave also said one of two things. A. “Won’t you cry wit me?” or B. “Is it too late for sorry?” Then, Moon Sugar starts horselaughing so fucking hard. And, all Ellie wanted while she was crying was for Moon Sugar to support her. She clearly did not. That’s not the only story. You see Ellie and Moon Sugar react to Leon: The Proffessional? As Leon dies, Ellie starts boohooing as she always fucking does. Just like in Shrek, the two girls look at each other again. Instead of supporting Ellie, Moon Sugar yells out, “You crying at…what?” That’s literally what Moon Sugar said. Word for word. Moon Sugar was once again basically like, “What the fuck?” Here’s another story. You see the Homies react to Zombieland? Woody Harrelson lost a kid and as he was crying, he confessed that he hadn’t cried that much since Titanic. Before the four girls were reacting to Zombieland, they all reacted to Train To Busan. Viki cried. Ellie cried. Idk bout Moon Sugar or Lia. Lia barely cries. Respect to that. But, when Woody made his Titanic reference, Viki said she hadn’t cried as much as Woody cried since Train To Busan. All the girls, even Ellie made fun of her for it. Then, Ellie pointed out that she hadn’t cried as much as Woody since the very morning just before they had to see Zombieland. Viki, then, turned the tables on Ellie. Ellie and Viki made fun of each other for sobbing like lil bitches and yet the both of them cried so hard at Train To Busan. You want another crazy ass story? You see the girls react to Me, Myself, And Irene? Jim Carrey was discussing a struggle for survival. A personal struggle. Then, he cried in front of Irene. But, the girls all poked at him for blubbering over a struggle that he was dealing wit. Even Viki was curious as to why they were doing so. Moon Sugar also made fun of Ellie for sobbing in Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron and Top Gun. And, it’s a wonder why they all still react together.

"Up" is a hard movie to watch. Just like so many other great movies. The perfect mix of heartbreak and humor, which is hard to do.

First time I saw this was with my adult son and daughter. It was supposed to be dad and the kids seeing a movie like when they were actually kids. 5 minutes into the movie I realized I was going to be mocked for an hour an half and that's exactly what happened because I kept choking up and they thought it was just hilarious! I raised soulless children! LOL

I absolutely love this movie! It strikes the perfect balance of humor and emotion. Within the first 10 minutes of the movie, you've already had a whole range of different emotions. Also, the characters are all so wonderful!

I’m honestly really excited for this kind of future with my wife. I’ve struggled with relationships my whole life up until now at 23 and I always felt different morally on how relationships would work and I met my wife who comes from a Hindu background and after just 9 days we got married. I know it’s crazy but it’s been 4 months so far and haven’t regretted it slightly. I dated a girl from 16-20 years old one. In 4 years I never even thought about marriage with that girl and that’s why we eneded up splitting apart but with my wife, I just knew in that 9 days

I remember not being emotional when I saw this movie the first time. Now as I'm watching this video, I'm crying every 10 minutes. Either I got soft over the last 10 years, or I'm a sympathetic crier and I should blame Ellie -- both Ellies! 😂

The waterfall region in this movie was somewhat based on a real area in South America where the highest waterfall called Angel Falls is, it's in southern Venezuela in Canaima National Park called Angels Falls.
