Small secret Scotty...this was the video which sparked my interest in drummer fishing off the rocks. You made it look accessible and uncomplicated and that appealed to me. I went out and bought a full kit of gear including rock boots and a hungry bag. The idea was to keep myself mobile and work likely washes. I chose a stretch of coastline from Austinmer to Wombarra and studied the tides, washes and the old timers. Over the next couple of years I learned a lot and caught some good fish. I find when I'm stressed with life this sort of fishing clears my head and brings me back to basics where the rod is simply an extension of my arm and I'm able to sense every tap through the tip and even visualize what my bait is doing as it wafts around in the wash. I had hit a low point in life, Scotty, and you brought me back from a very dark place. Thank you for that. I am sincerely grateful to you and Paul! A lot of other men could do a lot worse than take up the sport of fishing and it needn't revolve around expensive braids and thousand dollar reels which many tackle stores seem to want to flog off to you these days. Keep it simple I say. Enjoy the environment, get in tune with it and start putting some great eating fish on the table.

BEST fishing show I've come across. Best thing is you cater to the average fisherman who dont have 80 grand boats and cant afford to get to All the exotic places. Keep it up, have subscribed and will be watching every week.

first time watching your show fellas, love that you dont skip any details that are important for your average joe angler. Alot of fishing shows tend to omit details like the rig theyre using, the bait and technique used etc. This was comprehensive from basic safety through rod, reel and tackle choice to the proper prep of your fish. keep it up gentlemen!

Great videos, keep up the good work! I was wondering, could you guys suggest any solid locations for land-based fishing relatively near Sydney? Highly appreciated.
@TheHookandTheCook7 жыл бұрын
Richard this was shot in the Royal National Park south from Sydney, it has lots of great spot, Kurnell national park much the same and the rocks to the north and south of Sydney all fish well mate its all about knowing how to target the species you are after. Rock Fishing is great fun but please take care we lose to many that fish the rocks, never fish along, never fish in swell bigger than one metre get to know your spots and were the right clothing and foot ware. Thanks for tuning in Please subscribe to our channel and please share it around with all your mates as this helps us, Thanks again. kzbin.info Regards Scotty & Paul

Another brilliant episode, how long do you recommend the length of line to be under the float? and do you use a float stop at all ? ... keep em coming great show, cheers
@TheHookandTheCook6 жыл бұрын
John I fish mono line right through so no need for a trace. Your float can then sit right on the hook and small sinker for better casting, yes float stop is used to set the depth in area you are fishing. Thanks and please subscribe new clips every Friday. Regards Scotty & Paul.

how long do you smoke the fish for ?
@TheHookandTheCook7 жыл бұрын
You can check as it is cooking as it all depends on how hot the smoker is, about 15min for the salmon filets but check them at 10min. very tasty dish with any fish, Thanks for tuning in Please subscribe to our channel and share with all your mates. kzbin.info Thanks. Regards Scotty & Paul

wrong rods. Need something shorter or at least stiffer to get them out of the rocks quicker!
@TheHookandTheCook6 жыл бұрын
The length is needed on the rock ledges also when you lift you can turn them quick, short rods are tricky to use along these rock ledges but would suit other spots, The odd Drummer still reefs you from time to time, great fun more of this coming soon. Thanks for tuning in. Regards Scotty & Paul

Skin the drummer roll it in egg then flour shallow fry on each side bloody nice if you leave that skin on bloody terrible thats where the strong weed taste comes from
