My Dad treated himself to a brand new 68 Plymouth Road Runner with the 383 and Torqueflite after he served as a Marine in Vietnam from 66 to 67..

Owned only one Plymouth, a fully-optioned ‘85 Voyager minivan with the Mitsubishi 4-cylinder that I ended up replacing with a rebuilt at 77k miles. When loaded with the wife, two kids, the family dog, luggage and Christmas presents, it struggled to maintain 60 mph on uphill grades! 🤣 But it served its purpose as the “station wagon” for boomers with young children. Thanks for another great history lesson, HCG. 👍👍👍

Might be the brand I've owned the most, from my current '59 to a beater '91 Acclaim, and several A-body cars. Would like to find another Duster.

I am and was a Plymouth man loved their cars, they were the budget Chrysler line, but they also were the kick ass performance innovators, I would always take a Plymouth above any car out there

You always give fair coverage to all the brands. You cover them locally and globally. You make the videos interesting and educational as well. I saw Ward Cleaver's( Leave It To Beaver) car and Christine from the film. I saw the police car Grand Fury and Fury used in so many films and tv series. It is sad how Plymouth got lost between Dodge and Chrysler then Eagle. It goes back to brand management sadly. I do recall the many models. Thank you again.

Thank you, and lets not forget "Mr The King" from Cars, or Richard Petty's Superbird.

My first car was an 83 Plymouth Reliant...

I’ll never understand why Chrysler put money in making a prowler when Plymouth could have been better served with fixing the powertrains. Those transmissions were weak and that 2.7 was absolutely useless. I appreciate your content as always…. please keep it up 👍

Though they adopted the Mayflower emblem, the car was actually christened after Plymouth binder twine as suggested by Joe Frazier - cleaned up quote: "Every farmer in America has heard of it". Often heard the later generation ('rocket ship') version of the logo appearing on hood ornaments, etc. simply described as frog's legs - yet it can easily be viewed as an abstraction in metal of a dead on view of the rear of of the famous ship.

Plymouth Q was really a Maxwell, You know, like Jack Benny's car. The Plymouth brand originated from the Maxwell Motor Company, which Walter P. Chrysler acquired and essentially formed the basis for the Chrysler Corporation, including the Plymouth line.

Groucho Marx did the Desoto ads, was Plymouth higher in the lineup?
@thehopelesscarguy2 күн бұрын
Lower, the lowest in fact. Where Dodge and Despot tended to play leap frog in the range between Plymouth and Chrysler.

Plymouth was supposed to be like Toyota became to be developed in the '70s - and in the 1930s and '40s Plymouth was a better value, the fault of the American low priced cars is they never were developed for global markets, so Plymouth gained an identity as a low end working class American car, whereas Toyotas were sold in almost every nation and weren't bottom rung, the Toyota quality was a better than its price segment as the Corolla wasn't a bottom rung car in many nations. Toyotas were built to be serviceable in Africa and small Asian markets - which meant Americans would come to see Toyotas as long-lasting cars that are worth more new than the often discounted Plymouth. I like my Valiants.
