Mia Goth is phenomenal in this trilogy. I must say, of the three, Pearl is the movie that gives her the best material to sink her acting chops into. Performance wise, it's the best of the three where she just absolutely kills it. Yet again another amazing performance by an incredibly talented performer that got dismissed for award consideration simply because it's in the horror genre.

I think the mother needs farm hands and an in home nurse more than she needs "a bigger house". Ironically, Howard's family is rich and could probably help with that but I suspect Pearls mom is too proud to let anyone help (hence, letting that roasted pig rot on the front porch instead of eating or storing it)

With howard since he had to go to war and kill people and also witness fellow soldiers go crazy due to their enviroment and situation they were stuck in i think howard was able to sympathize / cope with what pearl had done.

I love X it’s my favorite of the X trilogy but Pearl was also great. It was definitely interesting to get into this character study of Pearl. Mia Goth delivered such an amazing performance like omg and that monologue was one take which is very impressive. It’s a great prequel and I’m surprised Howard stayed with Pearl after coming home to that horror show she left in the dining room.

I also really hope you loved Pearl! 3:20 Peace was never an option. 7:28 The face looks kind of like her father's face to me. 12:22 Being in the projection room/booth was incredibly soothing to me, back when it was all on film. 14:40 American alligators usually live around 50 years. 17:31 My favorite delivery in a movie FULL of brilliant deliveries is this woman and the tone in her voice when she says, "When you fail- and you WILL fail-" and then she says the thing about feeling disappointed whenever she looks at Pearl. Her voice is so cold, it's absolute perfection. Pearl's mother was the intimacy coordinator on X and she is not German. She had to learn the accent and the pronunciation on the fly. If I recall correctly, she doesn't have any background in acting. This movie is one of my favorites of all time. I hope Maxxxine is a worthy conclusion. 37:20 X spoilers!!! X spoilers!!!! The dead guy in the basement and the cars in the lake would tend to suggest that Pearl never stopped killing. Also, the way Howard spoke to Kid Cudi in the end made it sound like a recurring thing. I'd love to see more of Pearl's antics over the years, and just the conversation when Howard walked in from the war and found her parents arranged at the table.

No you guys forgot about the guy in the basement in X. There is a milk carton with a Missing Guy on it in one of the scenes in the boarding house. He is the body found in the basement by Jenna Ortega's character. So that means Pearl has been kidnapping people who stay at the farm for her sexual pleasure since Howard cant give it to her anymore.

Pearl is the best one in the trilogy. It showcases Mia Goth’s range as an actor. When I saw this in theaters, I was so enthralled by her performance that I even forgot about the horror happening around it. The monologue at the end was a prime example of why Mia Goth deserves an Oscar. I am glad you got to witness this masterpiece.

To answer your question about how long gators live, American Alligators like Theda can live quite comfortably into their eighties, possibly even beyond that in the right conditions. So it's not a stretch to think Theda's ALSO the gator who ate Bobbi Lynn in "X".

I love this movie, but it's my least favorite of the trilogy because of the missed opportunities. The whole point of the X trilogy was to look at the porn industry through a horror lense, and Pearl barely touched on that. I think they should have had the projectionist try to film her in one of those movies, and it would have tied in thematically with the other two so much more. Also, this movie was filmed in secret, at the height of COVID. It's set during the Spanish Flu epidemic. They could have done so much more to draw parallels between the two, and it would have hit so much harder since it came out just as the world was opening back up in 2022. They hint at Pearl's isolation driving her crazy, but definitely could have taken it further.
