My underrated suggestions would be Housebound (2014), which is a New Zealand comedic horror film. It's quirky and full of very dry humor. The other one would be Dolls (1987), which is the campy 80s horror that we know and love. Loved this video and have added a few to my watch list. I loved Ghost Ship, and it's one I rented over and over again before buying it when I was younger. That first scene - 💀!

I feel like Jennifer's Body takes all the praise that Ginger Snaps should be getting because they essentially copied most of the plot and switched it up a bit (i still love both btw, i just always like to bring up Ginger Snaps when someone brings up Jennifer's Body because most of the time ppl haven't seen it) but omg i loved this! plz more Petty Pumpkins collabs!

Definitely agree about The Blackcoat's Daughter and I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House. Not many people appreciate "slow burn" horror movies but they're beautifully written and filmed. I remember The Dentist. It came out on network TV too, but edited. I thought it was similar to The Stepfather. There was another one from 1998 called The Landlady. Not as good but similar theme. Just rewatched this episode cause the first time I watched it I was doing some other stuff while it was on, and didn’t catch everything. This time I committed. 😂 So, back by zero demand, here’s my unnecessary list that no one asked for. Here are 10 of some of the best Underrated (maybe even largely unknown) horror films of all time IMO. (Also, I love Blackcoat’s Daughter, Poughkeepsie is thee most savage and disturbing found footage film OAT, Fender Bender is GREAT, and I love everything David said 😂). 1) You Won’t Be Alone- (subtitled; foreign film) From Macedonia and Croatia, comes this slow burn, largely misunderstood, slightly unknown, gothic period piece and recently released horror film. It’s an incredibly well acted, slightly gory, even poignant at times, extremely original take on witches and the supernatural. But it’s also about the beauty and meaning of life itself. That’s all I’ll write cause the less you know the better going in. The cinematography is masterful, the score haunting and magnificent. It’s such a good film. If you’ve not seen it, and enjoy slow burn horror, foreign horror, or period piece films, I HIGHLY recommend it. One of the few films ever, horror included, that actually made me tear up. I sincerely love this film. 2) Dark Night Of The Scarecrow- ok, this is my Hocus Pocus/Halloween Town film, and OMG do I love it. All the way from the early 80’s, this made for TV movie is a big ol’ slice of nostalgia for me. I saw it at like 5 years old when it aired on Halloween, and it’s lived in my tiny black heart ever since. 😂 And I STILL watch it every Halloween. It’s a spooky supernatural murk revenge movie that could NEVER be made today due some of it’s themes. It also serves as a shining example of why “innocent until proven guilty” should be a rule we all live by religiously 😂. Intended as a horror film for the YA audience, it’s perfect for the young tween viewer and a good film for those just getting into horror. But even horror connoisseurs can find plenty to like here; the acting and dialogue are so 80’s they bring a tear to the eye. 🤣 But it’s sharply acted, paced to perfection, and extremely well done especially for a TV movie. It used to be on Midnight Pulp and Shudder, but not sure if it still is. If you can find it (I’ve been collecting horror films since I was 13 so of course I have the out of print DVD🎃), it’s well worth the watch. Ohsuka and Liam, I think you’d both like this film my friends. 👍🏼 3) The Dentist- Won’t write much because David covers it well but: When my love David said it, I nearly dropped my IPad. 😂 Corbin Burnsen is completely unhinged here and his performance is EVERYTHING in this film. Love, love, LOVE this 90’s gore fest that’s an extremely fun watch. And talk about having it coming, THAT BTCH WIFE OF HIS HAD IT COMING! 😂🤣 4) Pumpkin Head- Another film from the 80’s, this film does NOT get enough notice, love or remembrance. It’s got gore and slash, it’s got a monster, it’s got a twist. A true cult classic and a really great watch. 5) The Others- Straight out of the early 00’s, Nicole Kidman turns in a brilliant performance in an atmospheric minor masterpiece of a film; that takes a haunted house ghost story and turns it 360 on its head. That’s all I’ll write. Recommend Watching it knowing nothing about it. One of my favorite films OAT. 6) Fido- A Satirical take on the classic zombie trope, this highly original, criminally underrated and largely unknown camp horror film is a true pleasure to watch, from start to finish. 👍 7) Funny Games- maybe the greatest home invasion film OAT, yet it hardly ever gets mentioned. A truly chilling watch and an incredibly well made film. I recommend you don’t watch it alone though. 8) Raising Cain- this CRIMINALLY underrated Brian DePalma psychological horror film (with strong slasher undertones) from the 90’s stars John Lithgow in an absolutely incredible performance. He nails a rather difficult role, where what you see is definitely not what you get. This film does a great job of keeping the viewer off kilter; and you’re never quite sure of what your seeing. Is it a dream? Is it reality? Is it all in their heads? That’s for you to find out and decide for yourself. 9) Session 9- Another psychological horror, this 2001 film is a slow burn, with a great payoff and a stellar cast. Starring David Caruso (remember him? 😂), the ending of this film will blow your mind. 10) The Eye (subtitles; original Hong Kong/Singapore version)- This film is so near and dear to my heart. Brilliantly filmed, expertly crafted, and truly terrifying in parts, it puts you in a POV through the eyes of a previously blind woman who has just received a cornea transplant, and is seeing for the first time. However, it’s blurry, things are hard to make out clearly, things don’t make sense, and…what the f was that? 😱There are some scenes in this film where the tension and terror are so strong, it literally made my heart pound in my ears when I first saw it. 😂 And it still gives me chills to this day. It’s so underrated, and the US remake is garbage, but this overlooked gem is well worth a watch. Great film. 👍 On a side note- The Asian horror from the 00’s is so stellar. From Japan (shout out to one of my favorite films ever, Audition ♥️) to Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong, It was a great time for truly scary Asian horror. Including this film. I’m gonna re-watch The Eye tonight….for the 100th time. 😂 Honorable mentions/ recommendations- The House That Jack Built, May, The Gift (the one with Cate Blanchette), Excision, The Town That Dreaded Sundown, Deranged, Dead Birds, The Fourth Kind And that’s it! Don’t blame anyone if they don’t read the novel I just wrote. Happy Halloween and Happy Viewing all!
@TheHorrorHourTV2 жыл бұрын
It might be foreshadowing as Audition will come up again!! Okay, Raising Cain is a phenomenal film too! Fido has been on a watchlist. Will have to check it out.

Some underrated horror movies imo are Wishmaster, Dolly Dearest, Dead silence, and Jack Frost. Those are the ones I can name off the top of my head.

I don't know how many topics you can come up with about horror movies, but I hope you never run out of enough to have my favorite four plus more. I don't care if you have to start rating best horror movie outfits, teeth, sceeams, sex scenes, or even background characters. Always a little bummed when one of you is missing, but the main four AND guests make it the best.

Clive Barker’s Book of Blood I loved reading. Books that are a bunch of short horror stories I like a lot. Or anything by a Stephen King let’s be honest…

If you love gore and disgusting stuff watch a highly underrated "Planet Terror" by Robert Rodriguez! It's ridiculous and very gory, made in the style of a grindhouse movie. And it has Rose McGowan playing the main character! As well as Fergie, Marley Shelton and many others.

Just finished Fender Bender... Did I just get punked? That movie was absolutely infuriating! Lol. They couldn't even give the poor actress ONE scene that depicted she might have an active brain cell?? Disrespectful. 😂✌ I still love y'alls recommendations... But we've lost some trust here... ;)

I recommend a movie called “Eyes Without A Face”. I just watched it a couple days ago..and that shit traumatized me… But also…the poster is sooo good! I recommend it. Also, it is French, is was made in the 60’s, and it’s in black and white. So you KNOW it’s gonna be good! Also, I just watched Mommie Dearest, and now I understand why y’all are so gay, lmao (I am too, don’t worry) ❤️❤️
